What is the average price range for a Schutzhund trainer to train a dog for Shutzhund that has had NO previous training? I have a shepherd I believe is a great prospect, but I know I would need someone else to do the training. Also, in general (I am sure each dog is different) how long does a dog train before it goes before a judge? I hope to get replies, I am VERY interested but I know very little about it. Thanks~

$200.00 a week for training and board is pretty much average in Southern Texas.
Depends on the dog, but I would guess for SchH1 3 to 6 months...........
Its much, much better to find a club, join it and train yourself.
That IS what Schutzhund is all about - the working relationship that is developed between dog and handler.

Jimmy,
I have waited 2 years and finally started my boy in SchH. I wish I hadn't waited so long. I've gone only once and can't wait til our next meeting on Monday. I can't believe I want the weekend to be over LOL
Seriously, IF you have the time, it's awesome bonding time with your dog and you BOTH can benefit if you find a club to join and do it yourself.
