A good reminder for all of us on why it is so important to chip your pets.
This happened locally, a medical alert dog was stolen from his owner's friends house. After searching for awhile he was found dumped an hour and a half away, after the theif had tried to change his microchip information and also tried to dye his fur to change his appearance. Scary stuff.

Thinking the worst thing about this one is it was all so pathetic and pointless. Not a dog you could easily hide (the colour change sounds an entirely hopeless attempt - food colour ?).
Cost the owner all that extra cash and worry - for what ?
Childish prank, maybe ? But trying to mess with his chip
sounds more 'adult' (I use the word loosley !)

More important lesson is to not let a2sh*l*s have access to your dog.

That it did. My point was to take measures to prevent theft of your dog, because chip won't prevent demise once stolen.
