Interesting to see how different Buddy looks from modern GSDs.

Sunsilver, did you know Buddy wasn't actually the first guide dog in the USA? It was actually a GSD named Lux who was placed with MN Senator Thomas D. Schall. There were other dogs who were imported by Minneapolis based J.L. Sinykin who placed them with blind Midwesterners several years before Morris Frank returned to the United States with Buddy. I learned about them in the book Almo: HIs Master's Eyes by W.A. Christensen, who happened to be one of the recipients of the imported dogs.

A friend of mine shared his CD with me. He is blind and I placed one of my pups with him to replace his aging/current dog. I was brought to tears and cheered all in the same sitting.
I told him that he should share it online, if it doesn't infringe on any rights.
