If you think the structure of the German shepherd has fallen off the rails and become too extreme, you haven't seen this yet. Poor, poor Great Danes!

I, too, would like to see some people taken to court for what they have done to this once-magnificent breed!

Fast forward 30 years and while at huge dog show here with my first shepherd a showline didn't know there was any difference with work and show lines. That's another story got working line now, awesome dog lol
I went and looked at the Danes with my partner, and you could say it was just my memory confusing things, but as I said to my partner they're huge now and these particular dogs had thin leg bones compared to what I remembered. I commented it looks like they're just breeding them for height now, those dogs legs looked theyd snap if the cleared any of the fences some of ours did lol
Anyway it put me off buying a Dane in the future, plan was to get one when we had bigger property. So now I'll just live with the memories of the powerful strong dogs I had running around me as a child until my late teens.
The show world to me is nothing like I thought it would be unfortunately, sorry if that statement offends anyone.

I love how the neo is knuckled over in the front legs.... NO NO NO these are NOT Neos!! (Neopolitan mastiffs) They are GREAT DANES that have been bred to look like neos! They are so overdone you might suspect someone had slipped some Neo blood into the mix, but given what's been done to the GSD in some countries, with the loose lips, and big, blocky heads, I rather doubt it.
BTW, I acutally saw an ad for a GSD the other day that used the dog's 'big, square head' as a selling point... I wanted to cry! Since WHEN did the words 'square head' appear in the breed standard???

Are we breeding rotties to look like pugs now too? :\

Sun, that's insane. It looks JUST like a (foul language) neo. I thought they were showing random mastiff breeds, not all Great Danes..

A large number of dogs suffer this devastation. From anatomical exaggerations, malformations and painful deformities that cause pain and discomfort, impaired vision, ulcers, oral abnormalities, difficulty breathing, excessive salivation, problems in movement, skin infections, joint problems, spinal issues, inflammations, shortened lifespan, early death. It’s adding insult to injury to even debate about their ‘quality of life’. Their day to day status is permanently set at a single inescapable mode: suffering. They are examples of animal cruelty, torture breeding, qualzucht. It’s actually illegal in Europe: breeding practices likely to cause discomfort / pain / suffering are clearly against the EU directive which has been implemented by national legislation in most states.
I would like – no, I would expect, that people do everything in our power to ensure that dogs live normal, pain-free lives. If we allow this abomination to continue, we are as guilty as the greeders themselves.
These paragraphs copied from link...not my words, but i agree whole heartedly
THIS is so very true and even more, quite outrageous. .....
YES, none of us would buy a dog, or breed a dog to suffer like this, ?........
JUST HOW THE HELL CAN WE STOP THESE GREEDERS...?
There is no help from the kennel clubs. I recently complained to the AKC about a breeder that bought a dog off craigs list for $100, to breed his female to, no known pedigree, not a clue who or what was behind the dog, as soon as he bred him, he resold him, and put the AKC of a dog he used in the past on the litter.
AKC asked me what did I want them to do about it? FOR REAL, I asked....
I expect you to to act on it, thats what. How can they even take our money to guarantee heritage if the turn a blind eye to the ruination of MY breed.
I told them they could shove the AKC's up their ass...I would no longer use them.
THIS IS WHERE AND HOW IT BEGINS...THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT THE BREEDS, THEY CARE ABOUT THE MONEY.
So these GREEDERS get full support of our so called kennel clubs.
The hell with the interest of the animals, it's all about greed.
totally sickening
