Food is medicine and different people and animals do best with foods that are fresh and naturally derived.  The implication for our dogs is the same .. fresh, natural, and species appropriate foods benefit longevity, overall health, and mental health.  The program and podcast features a board certified neurologist who discovered that her migranes responded better to food than pharmaceuticals.  The speaker is selling her book and ideas but Joe and Terry Graedon do not suffer fools lightly and to get on their show Dr. Chaudhary has to be respected in her field of Neurology as well as nutrition.

Dry dog food kibble is not good food for a dog. If you feed your dog dry kibble it is for one of two reasons .. convenience, cost, or a combination of the two. If humans want to drink carbonated, fructose containing water beverages or eat "Honey Nut Cheerios" as their only food and pretend that is good nutrition so be it but the dogs have little choice but to eat the "crap in a bag" be it "Royal Canin" or "Ole Roy". Both of those fine dog foods certified to contain all the nutrients your dog needs are made by Mars Pet Food.

Nothing wrong with a high quality kibble. In fact its better than a poorly planned raw diet.

Have a big bowl of Royal Canin Maxi at $50 per 35 pound bag or more ( got a GSD right on the label ) .. the stuff is pure crap. The only animal products are chicken by-product meal, chicken fat, and fish oil.  Like many other below average products Royal Canin Maxi is a product of Mars Pet Products.

The Dog Food Advisor rated Royal Canin Maxi as 2.5 out of 5 stars and gave the bottom line below.

Royal Canin Maxi Dog Food is a plant-based kibble using a moderate amount of chicken by-product or chicken meals as its main sources of animal protein, thus earning the brand 2.5 stars. Not recommended.
