Factors into that price would be finished dog ready to certify and work, and clear health.

My police friend said he spent $14,000 training his police (K9) dog. (But he didn't think to spend an extra $100 to chip her, and she got stolen. So, now he's looking for a new one.)
I've heard of people being suckered out their money ($20k) for dogs that would've sold for $6,000.
Overall, I'd say $6,000 to $8,000 depending on the dog.

Facility
Time
Excellent breeding dogs
Vet bills, food, care etc
Time
If you have high standards for working dogs, you will have washouts
Equipment
Time
Risk of having to replace/refund dogs
Time
DEA license process
Explosives aids
Time
All of the above need to be factors if you are wanting to do this full time.
Consider raising up one or two pups/young dogs at a time and selling them green. Good experience and dogs are able to get lots of quality time.
I can sell a 12 month old nice green dog for 4-4500ish.

Finding the few from many seems more logical than trying to create many from few.
Does that even make sense??
