Does anyone know of any colleges/ universities with working dog programs? The only one I know of, is the PENN working dog center (http://pennvetwdc.org). Can anyone find a list of these programs? I've been looking around but I cannot find a list with multiple working dog programs based out of universities.

What kind of "working dog programs" do universities offer?
Is it theory only, or do they train in any venue?
I am really curious, because that´s something totally unknown to me.

There was a college in California that I read about. It isn't a working dog program, per se, but they have different degrees for, I think, therapy type dogs.

I may be incorrect. It seemed like something I would've been interested in, at first blush, but then, I realized it wasn't.

It's a lot of hands on learning so you can actually teach dogs while you learn about dog psychology.

I may be misinformed as I only briefly glanced around the site once quite some time ago. I'll tell you more once I get home and can obsessively search online for the actual place.

Auburn had a detection program

If you are wanting to become a trainer, programs like these wouldn't be the best route IMO.

@hntrjmpr Not wanting to be a trainer, just interested. @Susie, it's kind of more like a research program. The ones that I have seen work with the government to produce better detection dogs. I'm sure they do more than that.

There's The Tom Rose School: http://www.tomrose.com/, the IACP gives a list of schools http://www.canineprofessionals.com/trainer-schools, hope that helps! Wish I could setup a working dog program or club at my school, but I only have four more classes left after this semester.
