Hi there, Just thought I would ask for your feedback regarding dog shows. Christopher “Bully the Kid” Bennett who has been writing for several publications, including Atomic Dogg Magazine, Reader’s Digest, and was featured on Pitbulls and Parolees on Animal Planet. He wrote an article on Breeding Business detailing the three types of people found in dog shows...

And oh Lord... Let's just take a few bits...

The dog show world is often viewed as this oddity of a realm. Full of weirdly clad, socially inept outcasts that have trouble fitting into normal society.

Or..

The followers may carry in crates, water bowls, or actually scoop the poop from their false idols’ hounds.

And it goes on and on...

They stay glued to dog forums, social media sites, and cell phones. The gossip lives to breath dog show information, from who bred which dog to which bitch, to who has a son that was arrested for cooking meth in their bathroom.

Is that what you have been witness of in your dog show world or community? Seems very dramatic but extremely entertaining lol

Oh I think the bit about the gossip is true. Regular Smile

Show me any popular hobby where that doesn't

happen ?

And obviously the hobby is thought weird by some

observers, of which the writer is clearly one.  But

how & why the writer concludes all dog show

participants are 'socially inept and weirdly clad'

probably says more about his/her own problems.

And just what is wrong with taking water to a dog,

or scooping de poop ?

"Best In Show", thought by many to be a movie comedy, is actual a well-researched documentary.

Speaking of ' socially inept outcasts that have trouble fitting into normal society'....

If you think dog people are weird hang out at cat shows. Or Reptile Expos.

I like the part about meth-addicted offspring...

Showing dogs in and of itself is expensive, and unless you breed, it does not make you any money.

Was just doing some reading about "Pibble Nutters" - talk about crazy! One theory about those who engage in these types of fanatic activities suggests some very deeply repressed conflicts and a high degree of anxiety/delusions.

In other words from a psychoanalytic perspective: when people talk like this, it is far more telling of their own inner conflicts than it is informative about "other peoples' issues".

So, Odd Ducks of the world, take comfort. This is quite litetally one of those "I'm rubber, you're glue" situations. Nyah nyah nyah-nyah nyah.

Best in Show is so brilliant. People call it a mockumentary...may as well be a documentary. I know every single one of those people LOL
