Hello!

I'm hoping to bring my WGWL boy to our first show this upcoming June and I had a few questions. From what I've been able to research, it suggest you must hire a handler unless you yourself are very experienced. Is this true for a general club-level show? I have a friend who has shown Rotties in Sieger style shows who is willing to help me double handle. But it seems the GSD show environment is quite different? I'd appreciate any general advice as well! Thank you!

This is what my boy looks like, if that helps at all.

Definitely hire a handler. You want to be the one double handling and running ahead so the dog is gaiting nicely. Usually if you go to a show you can find a handler there, or try and find one before hand if you can. I got lucky and one of my dogs breeders is usually always handling/showing their dogs at shows so they always handle for me.

Nice looking dog, I say go for it! Its a fun learning experience if anything. Ive shown my male once, and my female twice, purely just for the experience of it.

Just practice having him stacked, his mouth/face being messed around with etc. Also, he should be intact. Try to practice gaiting if you have the means to do it correctly.
