We just recently about a week ago bought a dog off of Bob Fox. A female. We was told when we got her papers that we would get her pedigree as well. When we got her AKC in the mail we go online to order her pedigree. But it only has two generations and does not have her father or mothers. When I ask Bob for the fathers and mothers he tells me we can not obtain the fathers because he is from the Czech Republic, then on his facebook group he posts her father and then her fathers link to her pedigree yet he told us we couldn't get it? Then, when i ask about her mothers pedigree he says that he downloaded it on his computer then it crashed so for some reason he doesn't have it anymore? Is this fishy to anyone or just me? Has anyone else had this problem with him? When we pay $800 for a dog I feel like we should get what we paid for and we should get the TRUTH!

Excuse my AKC ignorance, but how can they register a dog without sire/dam pedigree? When purchasing this dog, was the agreement for a registered dog?
Planning on breeding or showing dog? If not, I wouldn't worry about it.

Did you get your puppy's/dog's AKC papers? To register a litter/puppy/dog with AKC you have to have the parent's papers...So AKC has the info...They also have at least a copy of his (sire's) Czech papers which include his pedigree...
They also have to have DNA tested with AKC...

$800 is not very much for a good puppy .. did you get an AKC pedigree with breeding rights??

Well, bubba, considering who this puppy is coming from, I don't doubt that he paid $800 for a puppy from parents that haven't even so much as had xrays done.

A pedigree does not infer breeding quality or breeding rights for a puppy. Just asking .. don't know or care about Bob Fox but he has been attacked before on this forum so just wondering what the buyer was supposed to get and if this may be more of the same campaign. The AKC sells pedigrees and with AKC papers there is no obligation to give a supplemental pedigree .. buy one from AKC. The buyer should know what is included with their puppy and with or without breeding rights ( I have an idea the puppy was not breeding quality or did not include breeding right ). I have had people complain to the AKC that I did not give them AKC papers and breeding rights when the puppy was free and given away as a pet because the puppy had an ear defect ( offset ear position ). The ear later corrected itself and they decided they wanted to breed the puppy which I specified was never going to happen with my permission or kennel name on the papers because they never were going to get any papers.

Missing something that I am

You got your AKC registration papers for this dog.  Right on the form under the name of your dog is the name of the sire and dam with their registration numbers

Yours don't have this ?

Bubba said what I was thinking, but I wanted to be polite and not post it :-)

What document did you receive from the breeder, and what document did you request from AKC?

Did the breeder register the pup and did you receive a 'Registration Certificate" in the mail, did you then go online to purchase an "AKC Certified Pedigree Up to 4 Generations" and it had only 2 generations?

Iff so, you might want to contact AKC. If your pup's parents were imported, their parents (not imported) will not have an AKC number. AKC defines "Certified Pedigree" as a pedigree that shows lineage from AKC registered dogs of the pup's breed. So it usually stops there. Nevertheless, the imported parents came with a 3-gen pedigree from the KC of their country's origin, and that is on file with the AKC.

I have a couple of Research Pedigrees that listed at least the name of a non-imported parent, but w/out that dog's registration number, and the pedigree stopped there.

Other registries provide more generations on imports, but AKC is poor on that. My suggestion is to ask for more and see what they say.

Or did the breeder give you an "Official Registration Form" to register the pup yourself?
In that case you would fill out the "Silver Package" that gives you a 3-gen pedigree that AKC would send to you.
Is that what you did and you received only a 2-gen pedigree?
