Good morning people, Can I have some links to recommended US based kennels that are breeding solid dogs from European stock that DO NOT have arched or roached backs. These dogs will have full health screenings, breeding stock will be titled, and dogs will tend toward the larger end of the standard with good bone. I like a male in the 26" 95lbs range. Stock, Plush and Long Coats are all fine. Again, no arched, roached or otherwised convex backs! Thank you.

I am not touchng anything pure AM. showline with a 12 foot pole (no offense meant to anyone). I may look at a mix of AM. and European lines though. I've just heard too may horror stories about weak nerves and bad hips...I say this of course knowing that European lines are effected with these problems too, but not to the degree that AM. lines are. Real working lines - meaning Czech and DDR? Is is possible to get a dog from these lines with a moderate drive? I love the looks of Czech dogs, but I have been told that they must always be worked and worked hard else they get bored and become destructive.

You can find moderate drives in any line, and higher drives without destructive behavior.

Some how I expected more responses...I guess the roach back is the predominant "type" being exported from Europe unless you go Czech or DDR. I don't even understand the roach back, what is it for? Any way, back to Googleling...

Hi, we have a super litter of W-Germ pups. Dam is our housedog and very much gentle and quiet in house but awesome on the field. Very nice balanced litter with good size and very strong backs. www.gieskeworkingdogs.com

GSD is a medium sized working breed. If you want a huge dog with moderate drive, why not to choose your breed among those that were bred to be like that? Saint Bernards, Tibetan mastiffs, Grate Danes, and the like? Most working line dogs that have straighter back are medium sized 75-85 lbs for a male, just like they should be!

I think it is because a lot of people don't want to just pop up the addys of kennels they like... It is like saying one is better than the other. The thing to do is look at the bloodlines and if you can take a look at the parents.. not in a stance but perhaps in a video where they are working or just being dogs. We just got a puppy from Govednik German Shepherds Kennel and I am very happy with him. Both parents are SchH3 and straight backed (I have seen them both) Al has just done a repeat breeding with these two. He also kept a female out of the same litter I got my male. There is pedigree and contact information at this site: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/schutzhund_lovers/ Hope this helps
