Almost ready to head south!! Florida or bust! - Page 1

The trailer is packed, the house is ALMOST empty and I have no idea where I'm going to fit what's left! I've already left behind most of my Christmas decorations, the bulk of my furniture, winter clothes :) :) :), games, you name it. I'll get there and kick myself for taking some of the things I did, during early packing, while leaving things behind I'd rather have had. Oh well, it's all purging, no matter how you slice it, right? My girls were thrilled when I gave them some of the furniture they love, some of the odds and ends they've know since babyhood, etc. But now that I'm down to the shit, they roll their eyes, they only have so much room, LOL. I threw away a lot of "stuff", including my "every day dishes", I'm using the china from now on! I have more cooking utensils than I don't know what. I gave my big roaster and my stand mixer ::sniff, sniff:: to my daughter, but I'll survive with my little hand mixer and just an oven. I don't think I'll be making two turkeys anymore and that's okay too. So, by next week, my toes will be in the sand and my face will be in warm sunshine! Now, all I have to do is find a place to live, LOL. I'll check in when I get there! Ciao!

I didn't know you were moving. Stay safe on your drive down. Good luck in finding a place quickly. I hate moving. Last time I moved I rented the biggest truck and made probably at least 30 trips with my little truck, what a nightmare and I vowed to never move again. We have accumulated a lot of stuff in 30+ years of marriage and I shudder to think about another move.

All that 35+ years of "stuff" I've been dragging around, that I never saw unless I was moving... yeah, well, it's gone! I'll only miss it if I move again. I have a cousin down there who's looking and I'm checking Zillow. It's a matter of getting the damned real estate people to call you back! I wanted to have a place to go directly, but that's not looking likely. I really don't want to camp out at a relative's place, I'd much rather find home, preferably close enough to the beach that I can walk it after dinner each evening and after coffee each morning :) I'm not even that picky about housing, as long as it has a fenced yard, a working kitchen and two bedrooms. I'd prefer two baths, but I'd settle for one. I don't need anything fancy, just something comfortable. I'll find it, I'm sure :)

I lost my job in May, right after the baby was born. My house needed too many repairs to keep up, while looking for decent employment, while closing in on age 60. So I cut my losses, sold my house and I'm going south. I get to reinvent myself and I can now decide what I want to be when I grow up!

Travels what prompted the move if you don't mind me asking. I thought you were getting along great with a decent job, family close by and all. Things sure add up quick in our lives. If I ever have to move again there will be one hell of a garage sale and some grumpy garbage people.
