The dog food is not being recalled because of concerns the dogs will become sick. The food is being recalled because of concerns that adults and children handling the dog food will become sick. Dogs can handle Salmonella and other bacteria quite well since they have stomach acids about 100 times as powerful as humans. I got sick myself once from handling some lamb containing contaminated dried kibble but my dogs were fine eating it. Dog food companies don't care if your dog dies as their liability is capped at the value of the dog. However the liability for a child or adult who becomes ill or dies from contaminated dog food is limitless and that scares the dog food manufacturers to take action.
