They trot like healthy dogs, who are used to putting on the miles. Would make great endurance/ long distance dogs for a sled dog team.

Thought about doing that for fun but don't know how they teach steering and stopping, and of course I would have to reverse all my auto hunting pursuit training.

That sledding stuff does look like fun albeit I would only use a wheeled "sled".

vk, if you are serious about working your dogs in harness and want to tell me where you live in OZ, I know a lot of people there who can help you. You can pm me if you want.

I had two six dog teams. Started all from youngsters with no trained adult dog to teach them. Put a tire behind one dog at a time, one command at a time til they know it. Ie, gee for right  then haw for left, whoa. Then two side by side, etc. Some people teach on trails, but i trained mine to start with on a big field, then proofed them on trails. They would even , 'gee over' on a road to let traffic pass. Needless to say, whoa is super important.. Living in the south, i used a wheeled training rig. An imageAn image

I hauled this team all over the country, working rodeos:-) , so i had to shorten the gangline because of limited space with contestants mounted on horses and all. In Greensboronc we had the rodeo in the colliseum. There was a 'blizard' and Saturday night after the show, a bunch of us were drinking beer, ran out. An hour before the stores closed at 2 am, nobody wanted to drive in the weather...guess who they looked at to make a beer run. One of the guys went with me and i hooked my dogs up, and down the four lane highway in the middle of the city we went. Couple miles to the store, brought back a case, drove the dogs right through the doors into our little party. :-) An imageyour dogs would be good for this out there in the bush
