I have two solutions in mind, and would like to hear from our community experts.
1. I was thinking of using a smaller diameter prong collar; these have shorter links, which mean that the length of the collar can be adjusted in shorter increments . I understand that smaller diameter prongs have a sharper correction effect.
2. Use a padded leather or double ply flat nylon color immediately downwards of the recommended pinch color position , so that the the pinch collar will now be able to slip downwards.
other opinions?

Prongs should fit on (touch) neck no fingers in betwen position below ears.

"..I have adjusted to the best possible fit for the dog's neck ( my two fingers can fit between adjacent prongs and the dogs neck )..."
I read that as the collar being to loose. Here is a decent video on properly fitting a prong collar on your dog

As a reference so that I can get an idea of the size of your dog, how many links are currently on the collar? Did you watch the video Cutaway provided a link to?

Another video on how to fit a prong. BTW do not ever use a prong collar without having it attached to a secondary collar. I've had Sprengers open up 2 times. One was a quick release collar and the other a regular prong. How? Beats me, but it happened. I'm thinking I may not have had them fitted correctly, they may have been too loose.
