I would be grateful to hear about any experiences with mini microchips. This product interests me because of the smaller gauge needle that is used versus the larger gauge needle with standard microchips. I am especially interested in the reliability and longevity of the chip versus standard microchips, but any feedback is welcome.

I have been using them for a couple years. They are a lot better than the old ones. The needle does not leave a big hole in the skin and is easier to insert. The one problem I've had is that the chip can get stuck in the end of the needle and can come out still attached to the needle. The way I and my vet do to prevent this, is to pinch the skin around the end of the needle while withdrawing it.
As for longevity, haven't used them long enough to speak to that.

I have been using them for a few years as well. No problems. However, the lady at AKC who handles the lost/found registrations told me they were not recommended. Not sure if it's because they are not sold by AKC or if there is a real problem. I will continue to use them until I experience issues. I like the smaller gauge needle

Akc isn't going to recommend another company's product.
