Hello
This is my 4th litter , 6*6*6*9
First 3 litters from the same mother
4th litter from the daughter , Daughter was born 100 + grams than the others .
Daughter who has whelped the litter has has her 1st litter , She will be 3 this september 1st .
Have had no probelms from the 3 litters before , everything was done with help , " from the Leerburg whelping online DVD and from big free help from Misty Trails .. and membors of PDB
All the puppies from the first 3 litters survived under our care at our home at 8 weeks ,, most of the puppies new mum and dads we are still in contact with ,, a few are lost and stolen

4th litter everyhing good , We clean more better than than the previous litters . and feed beter
On the previous litters i started to whean at 4 weeks ,,, This time i started to give them a smell of a raw mix food at 3 weeks ,, over the next days i let them have a very very little taste ,, All our raw foods are put through a dicer machine and are frozen for atleast 10 days .
Food mix : Duck wings , chicken legs , free range beef , Norway mackerel , Pig heart , Cow liver , Pig meat , Raw duck egg and shell crushed . Ox heart , Sometimes blend into thier dinners herbs and a liitle different root vegatables ...
Have fed the adults a little yoghurt and add greek olive oil into their dinners ..

All the adults have no problem swimming in very cold winter water , running in hot weather ....

Last night one of the males from the 4th new litter refused to eat nor nurse on his mothers teat ..
The following morning , i put raw food mix into his mouth ,, and he refuse to swallow ..
So we take him to the best vetinary in our city , Parvo tested negative ,,, " Will test agtain in the morning "
Tested for worms , Negative
Have read online that maybe , the problem coulld be Lymes disease

After a few hours i had been to the vet ,
i mix a little sugar with a very very very litle of salt ,, and used a needeless syringe to give him the salt and sugar via oral injection ..
After put this into his mouth ,, he started to drink from his mothers teats after some hours
Any tips ?

I take down again the whelping box ,, to give the sick puppy a more relaxed place ..

Any tips for what to check for ? " Vet "
any tips on how to get the puppy back on it 4 Paws ?

Puppies cannot digest bone, even ground bone, at that age.

@ Joanro

When does the mother starts to wean ? Does she nip round to Walmart for a bag of kibble ?

by joanro on 07 August 2015 - 20:08

"Does she nip round to Walmart for a bag of kibble ?"

She goes to walmart only if she is 'Lassie'.

if no walmart she gets the meat grinder out, she pluggs it in and grinds up a beef steak she found in the refrigerator. Lassie is smart that way.
But in the real world, a mother dog who regurgitates for her pups does not eat bones to be regurgitated...instinct would guard her against risking perforating her esophagus during regurgitation, plus bones are not suitable for little puppies.

@Joanro

Are you saying Kibble does not contain any bone ?
What do you feed puppies ?

Hate to interrupt this fascinating exchange between you & Joan on bones

and whelping, but can I ask if you ensured the vet checked for all physical

eg structural problems with the pup ?   Blood tests for disease are all very

well (and yes I realise the Parvo test was  particularly relevent for you, at

the moment, see our PMs), but a manual manipulation or xray to check

the gut wasn't blocked, or of the mouth, to ensure all was developing properly,

might have gained more info on why he'd stopped suckling.  You do not say

whether any of that info was made available ?  [ Yer have to watch Vets,

y'know ! Wondering ]  Oh, and relax, it isn't really all that likely to be Lyme's ...

The puppy is nursing again , and eating .
Has started to play and fight again his litter mates

Maybe he had caught a cold from swimming ..

@ Hundmutter

We where at the vets for nealy 1.5 hours .
The vet in our city , is a friend .. Sometimes we go out to party , I have introduced a lot of new customers to him . I get discount and he charges the people who i introduce good service at ok prices .

I walk my dogs nearly everyday in the forrest . Sometimes they pick up ticks , and i have had the odd one

Lack of appetite (inappetence; anorexia) , Weight loss , Depression , Weakness , Lethargy

Why do you have a puppy that is still at the suckling age swimming?

by Lanhua on 08 August 2015 - 14:08

@ hntrjmpr434
They swim in a PVC childrens pool in the garden .
After they open their eyes i dip their feet into the pool , over the next days they stand in a couple of inches of water ,, then over the next days i fill more and more water into the pool . Here the temp is around 37c .

At what age , do you introduce your puppies to swimming ?

by hntrjmpr434 on 08 August 2015 - 18:08

6 weeks.
