Last week, I got away for 4 days. For the first time in 3 years, I made a trip to Quebec to help my mom celebrate her 80th birthday. Since she hadn't met Eska yet, I brought her along for the visit.

Mom lives on a lake in the Gatineau area of Quebec. It's a 6 1/2 hour drive from where I live, if you don't make any stops. Counting gas, food and pee breaks, and occasionally getting delayed by rush hour traffic in Ottawa or Toronto, it generally takes me about 8 hours.

Eska is an absolute trooper in the car. She doesn't make a sound...just settles in her crate and goes to sleep. She is still learing that it's okay to pee when she's on leash, though, and went 8 hours without relieving herself at both ends of the trip.

She and my mom's 15 month old miniature poodle, Shadow, got along fabulously, and played together almost non-stop most of the time they were together. (Eska was crated at night.)  She had her first boat ride, a 2 hour tour of the lake on a pontoon boat, and seemed to enjoy it.

We are currently on a 3 week break from club training, as our president is in the middle of moving. Hopefully once that's over with, I'll be able to show some training photos. Meanwhile, here's some photos from my first real 'vacation' in 3 years!

Sorry I didn't get any formal stacked photos. I tried that once before with my mom's poodle, both with me handling the dog, and with her handling the dog. Didn't go well AT ALL, so this time round, I didn't even try.

Oh, and if you didn't get the reference in the thread title, Eska is a litter sister to Erie, the dog Melba posted about in the "11 Month Old stacked pics" thread. http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/forum.read?mnr=836007-11-month-old-stacked-picks

Here's some pictures from my previous trip in 2012:

Ranger and his former owners. He's been with me since 2005, and if you could read his thoughts in this picture, they'd be something along the lines of "MOOOMMMM!! HELP!"

Very cool, SS. You must have been very proud of Eska. She's really turning out to be a very striking dog - sorry I'm a SL person; I can't help complimenting a good looking GSD Wink Smile.

Just to prove I can be a nice person, I'm not going to ask if you are on the right or the left on that photo. Happy Birthday to your mom and here's wishing her many more to come.
