I have always been EXTREMELY curious on what brand of dog food Siegers eat. So far, I only know that Larus Von Batu eats Happy Dog. Any more bits of info some of you may know?

Most people are not going to divulge trade secrets. They MUST admit to feeding whatever dogfood that sponsors them, but the REST of the dietsupplement program is usaully classified information. Most of the people I know who show at that level add at least some fresh meat to the dogs' diets. One is a master of holistic supplementation, with an impressive dog kitchen/holistic pharmacy in his kennel. I never believed much in that stuff till he showed me a few things that blew my mind with his treatments (I call them "secret sauces." ;) Too bad I don't speak German well enough to understand everything he explained to me. But we can't get most of the stuff he uses here anyway, not import it without attracting attention at customs. Tsk tsk. SS SS

I know of one highly successful show kennel around here that feeds exclusively their own brand of raw dog food that they have made for them at a local slaughter house. And their show dogs have beautiful coats. However, having been around there quite a bit in previous years, I learned their secret. They supplement the food with raw blood, buckets of it from the same local slaughter plant.

I don't know what Siegers eat but I have seen extremely healthy dogs with shining coats that were fed homemade food, the owners swear by corn meal with beef lung, liver, bone and vegetables. These dogs have good, strong bones, no signs of calcium deficiency. I gave my dogs lots of bone, organs, eggs and vegetables, but calcium absorbtion seems to be lacking despite the amount of bones given, I have started giving my dogs corn meal and it seems that the magnesium in the corn meal has tremendous positive effects on calcium absorbtion.
