And now what, they just let them run the streets to starve, get beaten and crippled or beaten to death

Great life I don't and probably never will eat dog meat but I do eat Beef, Pork and a few items that others cultures don't and they don't tell me not to. The way it should be.

In Tijuana they used to have 1000's of dogs running loose hoping for a bite to eat, sickness every where. Residents started wondering where they all went and located an Asian restaurant that opened and sure enough they were serving dog meat.

Residents are happy no 1000's of strays around safe for all.

I'm not so sure it's the eating of the dogs per se as much as it is the cruel way in which they are butchered.

There have been other organizations that are supporting the world dog show and some judges are saying that they will accept an assignment. AKC hasn't said anything yet as far as I know. Given all the quarantee regs and the distance involved, there probably won't be many US dogs entered there. It's a very emotional topic; it's probably hard for most dog people to think of eating dog logically.

If it's a clean kill OK if not then speaking out is a good thing. Some countries are just not going to treat an animal better than the people of the country not matter how much anyone complains and that is what you are dealing with.

It's never a clean kill, the dog are butchered alive as they believe that the adrenalin acts as an aphodesiac in the dressed meat. Veal calves aren't really raised any more humanely, but most are killed before they are dressed out,  yet few I know refuse a nice veal cutlet.

Mithuna I agree that the picture is horrible, but, unfortunately it is very similar to what many poor quality puppy mills look like here in the states.

The dogs in your picture are soon to be relieved of their horrible plight and I will hope that it is in a speedy means. Where as the dogs in the puppy mills are doomed for many more years of the same life and expected to breed and raise puppies for market.

I do not condone either life just one is not for any length of time and the other is for a life time.
