hello,
I am looking for some advice on checking a pedigree of a dog I am considering purchasing. I have the registered dogs name and both its parents.
I have checked on the database on here but found nothing that is an exact match.
the dog in question is a 5 month old puppy. Can anyone offer some help on how this can be checked? Any sites that can be recommended?
I believe the dog to be imported from Hungary or Slovenia. Everything seems legit, but just want piece of mind.
thanks

Most countries of Eastern Europe don´t ask for DNA proof.
You need to ask the breed registry/breed club of the origin country for proof. At least they are able to tell you, if a mating happened between sire/dam of said puppy.
Real proof? You need to believe in the honesty of the breeder...

Thanks for the response Susie.
The Sire and Dam name I have seen on the pedigree are very similar to some listed on here, but not exact match. That is giving me some hope that all is legitimate .
i will look into the breed registry club you mention. Thank you

Penancesoiree, keep in mind that the information on this site has, more often than not, been entered by the owner of a particular dog, or by someone who owns an offspring of a particular dog, and therefore it is not unusual to find variations in the spellings of dog's names--and with imported dogs, it's sometimes because it's been recorded incorrectly on the pedigree issued by US or UK or other country's registering body. If you care to share the names of the sire and dam, there are those here who may be able to help you sort things out. You might also want to take a look at this recent thread regarding a similar situation; most often, the slight variations on the dog's names are usually just someone's error, and it's easily corrected--though there are certainly times when there is outright fraud being perpetrated, out of greed, spite, revenge, or flat-out lies that were told.

Thanks hexe.
i have found a website linked to the kennel, no info on the site and dam as yet, but the website in question looks like it may not get updated regularly.
its a french bulldog , the sire I have is Edwin Von Marahazi Mirage and the dam is Fruzsi Von Marahazi Mirage.
The puppy was imported to the UK at 15 weeks and is currently about 18/19 weeks old.
i am a complete novice in this world, so any help that can be offered would be much appreciated.
The puppy has a registered name of Myles Long

As well as what Hexe points out about 'owner errors', its worth
remembering that, good as it is, PDB is not an infallible source
of record for all dogs. Many do not get entered into the database,
ever, eg if they are never bred from. The rate of take-up in many
breeds seems pretty low, if interest in the accompanying Breed
Forum is anything to go by.
You could ask the UK's Kennel Club if they can offer any help.
If the breeder of the pup is interested in purebred registration,
dog shows, etc, there may be an Import Licence for your puppy
to here in the UK ?
Also someone at the KC may be familiar with the kennel where the
parents are from, if in Europe somewhere. Its a popular breed.
Either, could be you can get the spelling and possibly some ancestry
confirmed.
What Registry is the name "Myles Long" registered with ? Cute pun.

Thanks Hundmutter.
There is a passport for the dog here in the UK. I saw the passport when I visited to see the dog. Being a complete novice, I don't know enough to believe everything I see, or to be cautious .
I believe Myles Long is what it has been registered as in UK Kennel Club. I will give them a call to see if they can provide me further information.
thanks for your input

The kennel name that both of the parents carry is located in Hungary, if that's of any help.
