ShepherdWoman

So Chaos turned 9 this month. He's been limping on and off on his back left quarter. Yesterday he started limping worse. I noticed a hot spot type of patch between 2 of his toes and partly on top of the foot. He can barely put any weight on it and is in a lot of pain :-( Could it be something more than just a hot spot? I'm going to get him into the vet tomorrow hopefully. He can't get up and down our 2 deck steps with out help. He fell flat trying to get up them.

If it's that painful, it's more than just a hot spot. I'm thinking serious infection, maybe from a small thorn or sliver. Other possibilities include an injured or dislocated toe, or some other problem with the bones/joints in the foot.

Texted my boss and told him that Im staying home in the morning and getting him into to vet asap. There's a tiny cut to the side of it. You can see it after I shaved the area.

I'd check his spine, in addition to his foot. He may be chewing the foot when you're not watching and causing the damage (hard to tell w/out pic) because the leg/foot feels funny due to nerve damage. Cauda Equina can cause chewing on legs, feet, tail, etc. because it feels tingly or prickly or even numb. I had a dog diagnosed with food allergies after he chewed his thigh. Uh, yeah...I went to a different vet and demanded an MRI and sure enough- 2 bone fragments impinging on his spinal column causing tingling.

I had a dog in the past that used to have serious infections between his toes.

This started when he was about ten years. He could also barely walk, I got some antibiotics from the vet and that took care of the problem.

Hope it is the same in youre case..

Pour  a cap of Dettol in a bowl , with warm water , and swirl the paw   .  Gently rub between the toes  , While the paw is in the bowl  .
