If you have used this food for any length of time, how have your dogs done on it? Good, bad or indifferent; also how are the coats, energy and poops? Thx in advance, Nan

Isn't this about the 19th Orijen thread you've started Nan? LOL
I have fed it on and off for years. They do great on it, if you can afford it. I ALWAYS add water and/or fresh foods with a lot of moisture because that's a ton of protein.

LOL probably but I haven't tried this formula, now on Acana and want to go back to Orijen. 6 Fish didn't work so thought maybe Orijen Adult would. Just curious as to how everyone did on Orijen adult. Thx for info Jen; really appreciate your input. I too add plenty of water. Nan
PS: Jen have you found Orijen adult to work with raw: separate meals of course, but same day meal. AM one, PM the other...?? Thx Nan

My dogs can eat anything, at any time. I feed different kibbles,I feed raw, I feed raw and kibble the same day. They do fine. Start with very small quantities of Orijen- like a cup at a time and increase gradually to avoid liquid green explosions :) Only the Pits have that effect; my GSDs seem to be able to eat anything that's not nailed down and digest it the same way. I thought GSDs were supposed to have sensitive stomachs. Mine seem to have missed a memo LOL.

I've tried every formula of Orijen on 5 different dogs in the last recent years. Sometimes doing a brutal switch when the dealer was lacking the formula I was using at the time (6 fish my prefered formula) and never even a hint of a problem.
Nan, maybe your dog has a digestive enzyme problem or maybe a nervous condition.
Good advice from Jenn.

I have never had a GSD, or any other breed of dog, that wouldn't eat anything that wasn't nailed down either. They seemed to do as well on Eukanuba as they did on the more expensive designer food. I never noticed one bit of difference with coats, stools, temperaments, health, longevity, fertility, whatever.
Did you get Dodd's book, Nan? If you have that there should be answers to all of your questions. If not, email her with your concerns. She will respond in a timely manner.

BTW, Nan, what do you mean by Orijen "didn't work". Didn't work how? How long did you feed it to your dogs?

by Jenni78 on 23 May 2015 - 12:05
With all due respect, Blitzen, Eukanuba USED to be a decent food. the Eukanuba of 20 years ago was a different food than the Eukanuba available on shelves today.

Some breeders I know still feed Eukanuba and their dogs do well on it.
The Dog Food Advisor rates some of the formulas 4 stars.
- Eukanuba Puppy Small Breed (4 stars)
- Eukanuba Senior Small Breed (4 stars)
- Eukanuba Puppy Large Breed (4 stars)
- Eukanuba Senior Maintenance (4 stars)
Breeders have been debating brands of dog food forever. It's hard to find more than a few who will agree on any specific brand. Personally I think it's nuts to pay $100 for a bag of dog food when my dog does just as well or better on the $60 brand.

I buy Orijen for $50 a bag, and buy lots of it.
Ingredient list may be similar, but after the P&G takeover...well, I remember a lot of long time handlers grumbling about dogs suddenly not doing as well on the Euk. It may have improved, ie, been forced to improve under pressure after the recalls when common people started paying attention to dog food.
