i imported a male from west germany about 1 year ago, dog is a sch I has good confirmation, ursus free, a little hyper, but refuses to breed the females. i f igured maybe because he is new to my kennel and my husband and myself..3 months later same scenerio, so i took him to the vet, she attempted to ejaculate him and he screamed at the top of his lungs and tried to bite my vet. well we just tried again 6 months later and exactly the same thing has happened. zero libido, will not even approach the female. brought our regular male out and he bred her in less than 2 minuted and we had 7 healthy pups.breeder is playing the i don't understand english game. i am asking for a refund and to send him back any thoughts??? i have threated to with sv and publishing the kennel name
Did the vet check his prostate and thyroid?

do you have access to a reproductive vet and/or a teaching vet school???
If you take a blood sample, pull a bit out and send it to me. I'll put it in my husband's coffee.
But seriously: take the dog to the nearest Univ. Vet. Teaching Hospital or a highly reputed repro. specialist.
It may be something as simple as an abcess.
Good luck!

Show him a picture of Dux di Cuatro Flores and see if that gets him excited. Maybe he just doesn't like girls :)
My female will give him a good time.. I remember when one of the males i used does not have enough libido // My female is the one who's doing a good job till the stud cums and they lock. I follow the founder Stephanitz suggestion "To breed your female every heat period... or your dog will GAIN nothing BUT FAT" but to no success this is only the second whelping after 6 years of her life.
I dont mind spending for Stud fees( I do get discounts for being so persitent..)
but I really want to breed out of her a very goog uniform litter.

till next time
All joking aside, it sounds like the poor guy has a real problem. Could have been a very bad experience in the past, but more likely a health/reproductive problem. I would get him to a repro specialist or vet teaching hospital right away. You may not ever be able to breed this boy depending on the test results. I hope you are happy with him otherwise and will keep him and give him a happy life even if he never is able to breed.
I would definitely do as Shelley and others have recommended and have him checked out. IF he comes back with a clean bill of health and they cannot find anything, you MIGHT look into an electroejaculator to be used??? I know the International Canine Semen Bank sells them, and probably other places do as well. I have no experience with them whatsoever, but I have heard of them being used in some instances.
Just another idea for a road to go down in case you can't (probably will not) get a refund from the previous owner, as dogs from Germany are typically not guaranteed.
Good luck!

If he is in good health. Zinc and tribulus should do the trick.
The male canine's body needs Zinc to produce sperm and utilize testosterone. It works best with Ester-C.
You can purchase your own Tribulus and save a lot of money over

If you bought him as a stud dog, you may have gotten hammered. Forget getting your money back.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I have to think that if the dog was titled, Koered, and over two years old, the seller knew something.
Maybe not, but probably.
Good luck. I hope its something easily treated and that he bounces right into fatherhood without much adieu.
