Gene expression and disease immunity, response to vaccines, and health of newborns can be influenced by seasonal influenced gene expression.  So perhaps February born pups do better than those born in November for a reason??  Environment influences gene expression!!  Shows the variability of gene expression which humans are only beginning to grasp much less understand or predict based on environment.  Dogs respond to environmental seasonal conditions much more than humans ( ie we don't grow fur or shed coats as dogs do ).
