Irma is a three year old soon to be four.  She is my smallest female (55 pounds) and she is a very nice dog .. not a dog for the biting sports but she is fast, agile, and very quick to learn and willing to please.  Irma has had one litter of puppies so if anyone has a puppy from Irma here is a chance to see the dam doing what she loves to do.  Irma would be best suited to Agility, Flyball, Tracking, or Obedience.  Slow Motion video so Irma can cover some ground in a short time.  Irma is my "cottage dog" at the moment .. she is very sweet and quiet in the house.  I have no intention of parting with Irma if you are wondering why I posted her video.

Bubba, your Irma is a half sister (same sire), to our Grace Vom Mountain Lake.  Grace also is a small bitch. On a good day she might weigh 62lbs. When you described Irma, you were discribing Grace to a "T". We just recently purchased Grace.

I can totally relate to why you wouldnt be parting with her.  Our Grace is a gem.
But I have to be honest, I am partial to soild blacks. Gorgeous girl you have.

I also once had Greta vom Mountain Lake as part of my extended dog family.  She is I believe a full sister to Grace but she is a solid black daughter of Fargo X Perla.  A really great dog with a unique tool set and a very sharp mind ..

That is correct Bubba. Greta and Grace are full sisters.  We are so thankful to have been able to purchase Grace. We have worked her on a rag and a puppy pillow and to our surprise, she showed great interest. She had been used as a brood bitch before and never had any real work done.  We are giving her a break but will be breeding her in the fall.  Seems these lines have what it takes but if not utilized they make great level headed dogs that are easy to live with in the house.  We are very pleased with Grace as she is now.

I purchased Fargo as an adult of 4 years from Wade Hatfield as he was forced to scale back his kennel due to health reasons.  Previously I had purchased two puppies from Wade .. Irma and Indigo vom Mountain Lake .. pedigree below

http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/german_shepherd_dog/dog.html?id=736560-greta-vom-mountainlake

At the time I purchased Fargo Wade also gave me the opportunity to get Greta who was I believe 6 months old or older.  Wade liked Greta but said she was not going to work out for him because she lacked drive.  I took Greta home and indeed I could throw a ball by Greta and not only would she not chase it ( even with other dogs on the field ) she did not even flinch .. totally apathetic about chasing a ball.  However as Greta gained trust in me and as I worked her on a tug she quickly became very driven to chase a ball or bite a tug.  Greta is perhaps more like her dam Perla who Wade told me was very much devoted to one person and nobody else.  Greta's sire Fargo has never met a human that he did not like in my experience .. at worst Fargo ignores human strangers but Perla would not tolerate strangers willingly.  Perla did not need much of an excuse to bite a stranger.  Greta never bit anyone but she would give human strangers cause to worry.  Perhaps your girl Grace got more of Fargo's personality but in the case of Greta, humans had to earn her trust and active cooperation.  Greta nor any of my dogs have ever bitten me purposely but Greta could be hard headed and obstinate at times .. Greta is very intelligent.  Greta had two litters and they were all great puppies .. pedigrees below.  Both litters had the same sire who is a very tough police type dog but with a good mind and intelligence .. he loves to fight but has the good sense needed to control his aggression.  The breedings were 3-3 Orry if that helps.

Bubba, I didn't realize you were the owner of my puppy's mom!  Omg Smile

Eska, now 9 months, looks like she's going to be on the small side, like her mom. (I think she's about 55 lbs. right now, so she will likely mature at about 60 lbs.) She is fast and agile, and aside from some puppy stuff (chewing up my coffee table, and a few other things...books, bills, toilet paper, socks, towels, and a 40 lb. bag of kitty litter.. Roll eyes) she does very well in the house.

Last week, I introduced her to her first jump (10 inches high). When I threw the dumbbell, she yanked the leash out of my hand, charged over the jump, grabbed the dumbbell and brought it back to me! The only thing that made it a less than perfect return was she dropped it before I had a chance to take it from her. On several subsequent jumps, she held it until I asked her to give it to me.

Training the retrieve with this girl is going to be a snap!

She is very friendly and loving, and though I want to do IPO with her, I worry a bit about how well she will do with protection. She loves the flirt pole, though, and wants to go after anything that moves, so if she's worked in prey drive rather than defense, I thiink she will do okay.

With certified police detection dogs on both sides of her pedigree I have no doubt she'll do just fine with tracking!  Teeth Smile

Not sure if I own my dogs or my dogs own me .. I seem to be the one working for them most of the time but it is the life that I chose.  Eska looks like Irma .. but perhaps larger and taller .. IRMA is fast and very quick .. she could do agility or fly ball.  Irma is very willing to please .. what do you want to do is the question she asks me but chasing a ball is what she loves but she will do tugs.  For Irma and her sister Indigo catching a rabbit when I Iived where there were many was a five minute job.  Maybe we had suicide rabbits but the young rabbits had problems outcutting these small quick girls on turns.  Irma will growl and fight with a tugs so your pup with her added bloodline should be OK with protection .. the IPO groupies like to see a big dog hanging onto a sleeve but your girl will latch on and hold on I predict.

BTW, Mellisa (Melba) recently had 2 pups returned to her from Irma's litter, the one that produced Eska. I believe they are available if anyone is interested. There is a black male and a sable female, born August 3, 2014.
