AKC registration timeframe? - Page 1

I recently purchased an import male (three months ago) the sellers told me the AKC registration paperwork was started. Still after three months I have not recieved any paperwork, I contacted AKC and they have no record of anything regarding my male. How long does it usually take to register an import with AKC? I am new to this, so I am in the dark. Any advice is appreciated. Thank you.

What country is the seller in? The owner, you, does the akc registration. Two photos of the dog must be submitted to akc, DNA swab if you intend to breed the dog. Something sounds odd. I suppose a foreigner to the us can reg a dog with akc , then sign the dog over to you. Guess its possible.

Sorry...the dog is a German shepherd registered with the SV from germany. The sellers name is on the import papers (which I have in my possesion). Seller imported the dog and resides in the U.S. AKC said they would have something on the dog if the process was started but nothing is showing up. I spoke to them on friday.

OK, sounds like the seller is Reselling the dog to you. Did the seller make a copy of the import papers for akc registration? You probably need to ask the seller for details, like if they have pictures, see if they give appropriate answer. I think you can get a transfer and register the dog yourself. Maybe Susie will give some insight.

For AKC registration you will need the so called "Bescheinigung" from SV, see the link above. Therefor SV either needs the original pedigree or a notarized copy with all the dates and subscriptions of any buyers/sellers. Ask for it.
