Unprofessional Breeder - Page 1

Contacted T Hatten of Oelmansdorf on this eve. Simply to ask when he would be breeding a specific pair. The guy got an attitude with me because his price went up and I didn't know it. Extremely unprofessional, this guy even went so far as to text and leave voice mail using profanity and a racial slurr... Can't ever do business with this kind of individual...

I missed what  your deallings with him were, but, I have dealt with him once quite a few years ago, and NEVER AGAIN.

HI Readers

I have spoken to Terry Hatten several times over the phone from NYC and I have always found him to bea  polite and infomed person about the dogs he breed. Terry has always answered his phone or returned calls, and was always enthusiastic to give details on the breedings he was doing. he never seem to tire about talking about dogs. My experience with Terry has always been encouraging and positive.

To Red Sable: I was simply calling to find out when he would be breeding two dogs I saw on his future breedings page. He attempted to sell me a puppy from the litter he currently has with two different dogs... When I simply reminded him that I had spoken to him months ago and he quoted me a lower price, the guy lost it. I actually think something is wrong with him because he was not like this when i first spoke with him. I feel fortunate to have had this happen before buying from him rather than during or after. There are too many good sane breeders out there. But as they say about some dogs, his bark is worse than his bite...

To: Mithuna: I understand completely what you are saying. When I first spoke with him approx. 6 months ago, he was as you described. But after contacting him on yesterday, I have over 25 texts on my phone and 2 voicemails. All contain profanity. He even went so far as to tell me he knows my name and address. So consider yourself lucky. You met the better side of this individual. I am simply letting readers know what I encountered. This guy is like a dog that will lick your hand one day and bite it the next day. Who wants to deal with that?

He was very pleasant to me while selling me a dog that was nothing like he described.

His big bone, natural aggression? I have yet to see, however, I am not going to take a chance at that again.  The only breeder I'd buy over the internet from is Nate Harves.  He absolutely produces what he says he does, at least from my experience.

That being said, I'm now going to shop closer to home where I can see the parents.  It is too much of a crap shoot and I want to lesson my chances of a fluke as much as possible.

Hello. I recently put a deposit on a puppy from Terry. From day one Terry has been very responsive, has provided references, pictures and answered all questions I have had. This is was very important to me as I am located in California. I have purchased many shepherds over the years from various breeders and Can tell you that Terry knows his bloodlines. I am looking forward to the ongoing process and would recommend Terry to anyone looking to get a great quality shepherd!.

Hello from El Paso, Tx.  I came upon Mr. Hatten's  litter advertisement on here. I called him to get information on the litter and he was very respectful and professional. I placed my deposit for a pup and ever since then he has kept me updated on how everything is going. He called me once pups were born and has been sending me pictures. He's very professional on what he does and I have no problem with him. Hes answered every single question I have asked. I am very pleased Mr Hatten and very happy with his prices as well. I totally recommend him!

This is sad to hear & doesn't sound like the Terry i've done business with.

My personal experience with Terry of Olemansdorf covers several years and going on my 3rd DDR dog from his kennel.

I HAVE NOTHING BAD TO SAY about Terry: I'M A SATISFIED 3rd time puppy owner from Terry. 

I titled my first dog from his kennel to IPO-1 & we are going for our IPO-2. I was excited to let Terry know of his breeding getting a 1 & his reply was nothing but courtesy & happy for my progress.  You say "well of course, that makes his breeding look good he has no reason to say anything less.....

My second dog was a beautiful solid black female out of a litter of 3.  Nice drive, going for our IPO-1, but at 2 yrs old she was x-rayed and showed bad hips (both of her litter mates OFA'd as "good").

Well, now there is a reason to NOT be nice. But I was VERY PLEASED the way our professional relationship & respect developed over the period of time. Terry notified  me of available litters & told me the process of replacing a puppy. He periodically would reasure me not to worry that he is good on his word.  He let me know the background of the pedigrees to choose from, he let me know when the litter was due, when they were born, when he would send pictures, & how they were developing. ALL  that was for a replacement puppy (which I'm sure is not a happy time for any breeder). I'd say Terry went out of his way to make good on his word & keep a customer satisfied & happy. 

Just FYI, I've had/have other dogs from other breeders, & I'm not a breeder.

I would continue to do business with Terry & I have no problem recommending him as a breeder.
