A friend of mine has asked me for some suggestions on puppy kibble for her new GSD pup. I feed raw(she doesn't want to) so I am not too much of help for her.

She doesn't have a price limit, and doesn't mind ordering it online.

Thanks!

Best document, right here. https://docs.google.com/file/d/0BwApI_dhlbnFTXhUdi1KazFzSUk/preview

This is a list of SAFE kibbles for large breed puppies, off the dogfoodadvisor.com page on large breed puppy nutrition. There is a Bloodhound breeder who took the trouble to CALL every company and get their actual data, not "min" but "average" and "max" calcium and phosphorus levels. This list is only those who scored 4 & 5 stars and is broken down into grain-inclusive and grain free, as well as premade raws and mixers.

Try steering her to The Honest Kitchen Love formula.  It's on the "safe" list for large breed puppies.  It's almost like feeding raw but without the mess that some people object to.

Thanks for the replies! That document is a great thing to have.

She is leaning towards Orijen or Acana. I have told her to do research on those two, and I have as well to help her. I am reading pretty mixed reviews on whether or not the high protein is what causes rapid and unhealthy growth, would like to hear some opinions on that as well.
