some advice -- no ulterior motives ..i do not make a living on my dogs or are they commodoties -- BUT -- serioiusly consider line breeding !! i cannot give you a whole seminar .. but please do your research --the last twenty years have been deplorable in regards to breeding the GSD -- the SV IMO should be ashamed of itself for alowing the ilne breeding to go with such intensity unchecked ! do not get sucked into the mindset that you need a VA or perfect GSD -- follow the standard or the putlook of Max V Stephanitz and you will be ok . most of what goes on now IMO is hypocrisy because of human motives [ ego /greed/ pride / money etcx] as a result we breed unhealthy GSDs and GSDs that have lost many oputstanding behavioral traits just to look pretty ! A GSD must do more than trott well !! so i implore you --do your reasearch .. evaluuate you goals before you breed --

before this uneccesary bashing of tight line breeding continues, and how the SV could possibly allow it, and how good ol Max did it (or supposedly not did it from the sounds above), go back to some of the early VAs in this database, starting with 1906 that actually shows full pedigrees, and you will see many dogs that are very tightly line bred. Out of necessity, because that is the only way to create a breed. If Max was so much against tight line breeding then why is the VA of 1906/07 line bred 2-2 and also 2-3? The fact the Max established a breed is the epitomy of human motive. So lets stop quoting the man and look at the facts of line breeding, which is part of all domestic breeding and human reproduction as well. As little as a hundred years ago people did not have the luxury to take their domestic lifestock or themselves far for reproductive purposes. Breeds emerged because of local isolation and finding mates among the local population. In all domestic stock line breeding has been done for eons and manifests the traits people are looking for. Sometimes it works, sometimes it does not. That is what breeding is. Experimenting. Lots of other posts on the subject, search the message board for more info. Ghandi is just coming into the age where people would start line breeding to him. Not enough data on what that would produce. The line breeding would be fairly tight because of the dogs age, and the age of his offspring. The only advice I can give you is to look for a strong motherline that produces fairly uniform results physically, and produces strong results in terms of HD, in this case I would look for that in both motherlines of the pedigree. Coats are a possibility, but I would not dismiss a breeding because of such a minor issue. Ghandi has aged very well and his working ability is well known. If that is what you are aiming for, then why not try it. Any breeding needs to fit your goals and your purpose. Breeding always means taking risks. You can also contact Ghandis owner/breeder for an opinion.

Thanks a lot for your opinions! ALPHAPUP - she is reaserching and this question is a part of her reaserch :) D.H. - personal thanks to you! Your opinion is very helpful and informative (as usual). The friend of mine already had the idea of contacting the breeder of Ghandi with this question too but she also wanted to know other people's opinion too. Can anybody give an e-mail of Ghandi's owner?
