Are temperament genes connected to physical appearance ?

To ask the question in another way, can you tell inner quality from outer looks?

Here we often hear these claims

1. Lean dog with fine bones is a nervous dog.

2. Large and well muscled dog has sound nerves.

3 Excellent ear erection with correct set means the dog has very good confidence.

4. Darker eye means tougher personality.

5. Higher carry of tail means more dominance

6. In walk, low head carriage means weak personality, high head carriage means strength, confidence and pride

And so on..............

Does that have any value/fact or it is only nonesense ?!

I forgot one big claim, a dog that barks a lot is one without confidence or is not clear in its head, some swear this is undeniable fact !!!

The only one in your list I agree with is high tail carriage can possibly indicate dominance, but most likely just means self confidence.

The rest is hogwash. I had my hands on a pup that was one of the best looking pups I ever saw, dark color sable strong bones..everything any one would love to see in a pup. But call him to you and he would literally crap all over himself. He ended u p being, put to sleep by his owner by the time he was eight months old..and he was never mishandled or abused. He was born with no nerves for life.

I, personally think ear carriage is connected to alertness and confidence, the more the dog has its ears erect in various situations shows confidence and no submissiveness.

Some of those misconceptions are actually quite amusing, incredible that people actually believe it.   Like Joan says, the tailset could indicate dominance or confidence, depending on the situation and the breed.     Generally the opposite of that is the tail being tucked would indicate insecurity/fear.
