Anyone else getting ads that have an X to collapse, but when you do, the ad is still blocking the whole screen?

Hi Melba,

Sorry about this. Can you please tell me what ad/s are doing this and maybe I can get Oli to try and fix the issue. A screenshot is always awesome because I can show it to Oli and he can better understand exactly what the problem is.

Ooooh yes !

That is just one of the problems I have had with pop-up ads over the past few

months.

I appreciate what the Admins say about advertising and about Oli's need for

revenue to keep PDB going & free, I really do;  and I am sure most of those

ads I have been having problems with are not there by Oli's choice.  It may

be my computer, it may be a software problem.  All I know is, whereas the

officially sanctioned ads at top & side of page are NO problem, the absolute

blizzard  of pop-ups and screen-freezers I've been getting make it a real

chore to navigate around threds on this site, and some other websites.  I

know others have had similar problems; at least one poster has stopped

posting altogether as navigation for her was so difficult too.  Like me she is

in the UK, like me it was almost impossible to even read the threds.

Under another topic strand on these problems I said mine stopped recently;

however I am returning to say that I cannot really recommend the solution

to my problems, as   omiga   is malware, I have discovered through research.

Just because it seems to be making my life easier, I can't recommend it to others;

it seems fine as a browser and continues to block these 'unofficial' ads ... but it

did sneak in under the wire and apparently has dangers attached re privacy [that I

might risk for a while longer, but don't wish others of you to do so !]

I agree, Hundmutter, and have done my best to ignore those ads. Contacted Publix and asked them to opt me out of their banner ads. They agreed, but this morning they were back again covering text I was trying to read. I've reluctantly activated an ad blocker so I don't put my fist throught my computer screen. I suspect those obnoxious ads drive more people away from those businesses than not. If I purchase something or search for a specific item on line it only take a short time for ads for the same items or ad from those retailers to pop  up here and on other sites I read. I buy things from overstock and ebay, but I'm not sure for how much longer. It's a blatant invasion of privacy.

Frankly I'd rather pay an annual fee to access this forum than put up with these ads. I really do understand why it has to be, but it just gets to be too much most times.
