I'm sure this has been discussed here in the past but I think that over time this claim can change based on many factors.

I would like to know who your top 3 to 5 working line GSD kennels in the world are based off of the following criteria:

1) Successful progeny in any line of work to include dock diving, IPO, KNPV, Police etc... (You can call success the achievement of some title)

2) Reputation

3) Consistent producers

Lets keep this conversation respectable and understand that everyone has an opinion and you do not have to like an opinion to have respect for a person.

GO!

One I really like is VIKAR and Eqidius Kennels in Czech.

For the amount of breeding he does I'd have to consider Staastmacht in the list.

I guess I should have put a list up.

I like these kennels not in any order:

1) Von Der Shiffslache

2) Von Der Staatsmacht

3) Del Lupo Nero

4) Vom Fuchsgraben

5) Vom Spitzenhund (I'm a little biased on this one since I own Johnny's Kimura vom Spitzenhund)

6) Canine Concepts has one of the most impressive line-up of females ANYWHERE in my opinion.

I thought about the "best workingline kennel" and came to the result, that I don´t want to buy a kennel name but a good dog.
It´s not about the name, it´s about the dog and its parents only, and at least the "big" kennels use a lot of different males and females for breeding, some are good, and some are good for producing puppies only ...
In case I´d be looking for a puppy, I´d take a look at the parents, and I´d take a look at the working skills of the breeder.
I don´t like people who make money out of the success of others ( any titles or achievements ). I want to see them working their own dogs during heat and rain.
I´m not interested in people who don´t know what they are talking about - and I´m not interested in 2. grade litters, because all the puppies sale that good, and the breeder wants to become rich.

It's  all well and good if a kennel has a large number of dogs that are successfully working across the venues, but I think one really MUST factor in the quantity of pups produced annually [under ALL their kennel names, not just the main one] versus the ones that actually do go on to meet the working criteria.

Off the top of my head, I'd rate Von Sontausen in No. California among the top producers of working line dogs that have and can prove their working ability and ethic. She doesn't breed many litters, but the percentage of the pups she has brought into the world that go on to excell in various dog sports [including SchH and HGH] PLUS the dogs she's put out there which are working LE K9's, infectious agent detector, SAR and assistance dogs is hard for anyone to beat. She also continues to train and trial her own dogs, and has maintained her own bloodline which goes back to her foundation female, Metzundyali's Sonja, since 1991.  This kennel absolutely fits my definition of quality over quantity...and when she says she provides lifetime breeder support to her puppy buyers, she really means it. The only reason I don't have one of her dogs is because I  don't feel I can do the dog's potential justice, at least not while I'm still working full-time. Once I retire, I may be able to live up to having a Von Sontausen pup in my life.

First of all, I am a big fan of von Sontauson. Wonderful dogs.

I agree that today you have many small breeders that produce amazing dogs but not a large quantity of dogs.

I'm a HUGE fan of a kennel called (vom tapferen Krieger)! Not a huge kennel but I love all of the dogs they have.

Agree with Susie  for real quality go to the smaller kennels/breeders not the commecrial with the BIG NAMES

and look  to good females !!!

An other point is its not only the quality from the the dog but you need also  a quality handler to get the potential there are more good dogs than good handlers IMO.
