So my almost 9 month old male GSD still has the occasional submissive peeing problem around people he meets. My concern is that he has confidence issues. Are there any techniques to help install confidence in him or correct the problem?

You should first and foremost make sure he doesn't have any medical problems...Like an infection...

Then figure out...if you haven't already...when does he pee...Is it only when he meets new people...What about other dogs/animals...Does he pee in the house?

If any of these things are true then what you need to do is to be absolutely honest about how much socialization has he experienced...Build his confidence is the key...

Sooo...How much socialization has he had and what kind...Where have you taken him...Has he met people...Do you let any and everyone pet him...What do you or have you done with him...?

if the vet gives the all clear you need to take that dog everywhere with you parks, beach, down town ,friends houses.when people come to your house let them give a treat .what age did you get him at .do you know the breeder something may have happened to him as a pup was he socialize as a young pup pups have a window to be socialize learn new thing that is why puppy need to be introduces to as many different things as possible .be gentle with him teach him humans can be fun wont hurt him introduce him to friends and family that love dogs because he will pick that up from them good luck with him its a long road but worth it for you and the dog
