Hi,
Anyone else having trouble with ads coming up and blocking text? About a week ago I started getting these ads that come up with no way to close them. This is one of several

yep .. me too but I suspect it is our computers and not the website .. probably some malware or other self installing software that causes pop up and viral videos. I use Firefox if that helps but I think the trouble is likely on the user side and not the host?? The admins and IT support would be all over it if their site was hacked.

It's not just you and bubba, howlk9. In fact, I've got one right now for Pedigree Dentastix. It is most annoying.

What browsers are you all using? Since I don't allow certain scripts to come through without my okay, I don't get them. I can tell something is trying to force its way into my system though because the browser acts weird sometimes. Just now, it scrolled up by it self even though I'm not touching the mouse.

IE8 on the laptop, Firefox 35.something [I think...I just updated it the other day] on the PC, and Google-whatever on the tablet. Oh, and OperaMini6 on the cell.

I have had pop-up ads problems of assorted types for weeks & weeks,
spent half my time uninstalling programs that sneaked in under the radar,
despite McAfee telling me that it had cleared all viruses etc and my
computer was clean & working fine.
This happened while using Google Chrome - which I was pissed off
about because it had been the best for viewing PDB; so I uninstalled
that and went back to IE; where I still had problems ... until I suddenly
found myself going through a new / extra browser I had not deiberately
installed - omiga. Oh hell, thought I, better try & find that and uninstall
it - but wait ! It seems to have stopped the pop-up ads ! Been much
easier to read & navigate for several days now ! Watch this space, if it
goes on working and doesn't present any other problems I'll recommend
it and bring you details.

Isn't there a way we can unsubscribe them?? Maybe Oli can help??

You can install an AdBlock software... I know the mods don't like the fact that some of us use adblock software, but in all honesty I would rather protect my computer.

Yeah, we don't like it because if every person used adblock this site would go bye-bye. As Oli said to me the other day, it is very hard to pay and maintain a FREE website with everyone blocking the ads. Possibly soon you may not be able to access this site if you have an adblocker or a noscript turned on. The other option is to charge a membership fee. Since most would not want to pay for membership(IMHO) I see this site really struggling in the future. These ads are safe and are an expanding ad. It costs Oli a lot of money to keep this site online plus do any upgrades and maintenance.
Up to you guys but the time is coming were Oli will be forced to make some hard decisions on keeping the site free or online.
So, use adblock if you like but remember everyone that does is taking money away from the site. The ads that are used here are trustworthy or they wouldn't be here. You should never get a real popup ad from PDB. Expanding ads yes they are possible but popups never. If you see a real popup ad it doesn't come from PDB.
