So is that considered one of the deadly "heavy metals" or ?? Notice they did not mention what the dog ate... too vague for me. But thx for sharing at least it gives you a heads up. Nan

Copper toxicity is well known in sheep and other grazing animals .. some dog breeds are also more sensitive and some individuals wthin a breed can be even more sensitive to copper toxicity.

Nan, this was just a newspaper write up, so it would not be as detailed as a journal report and the newspaper might not have wanted to name the actual foods mfg...think legal problems here. The point may be to look at the ingredients of the different foods we may use, and see if they are using copper sulfate and at what amounts... That doctors at two university vet schools are concerned is noteworthy.
Here it mentions he has contacted the AAFCO, with no resolve, and other pet food manufacturers and is awaiting responses from them, if any.
Notes from Day 1 of the AAFCO meeting here indicate how little concern for appropriateness of ingredients there is. One of the ingredients discussed was a biodiesel fuel leftover of mustard meal....really.
