Amazing what happens to perspective when you walk in someone else's shoes. What do you all think?

Clearly this is evidence that it's easy to judge until you're in someone else's shoes~~

very true indeed, a complex and tough high stakes job.

I truly respect 99% of all police officers but it goes both ways here. We watch the video and yes it is frightening but we haven't had to walk in any of the people involved shoes. The police or suspects, plenty of people have won suits against officers because of bad treatment, they can't all be wrong. Nor can all cops be wrong. I worry about the mentally ill in this the most, because they are ones who are least likely to comply and not know the difference, to those that aren't mentally ill, it is what it is and what will happen will happen.
Personally, most police have treated me well, but I have had a few less than pleasant experiences with officers. I find the state police to be way more respectful than local/county officers. More professional and better trained. Would I comply, you betcha, because I believe the officer is more scared than I am. Because I know what I have done or not done but the officer doesn't.

Interesting statistic that there has been a considerable drop in complaints
of brutality against the police since the pilot started in California with LEOs
wearing bodycams.

Yes there are good cops and bad cops, I have been lucky to work with and know more good cops. The few bad ones I have run across should not be on the street. This is where quality stress management program with trained mental health professionals like POPPA for NYPD is so important. I have been on the street where the disrespect by civilians is unbelievable toward cops. But I have also witnessed cops being incredibly disrespectful toward civilians. Unfortunately it is a two way street where mutual resect and empathy would go a long way......
