Dog Artist - Page 1

Hi,

I was looking to give a gift to a friend and was hoping to give her a painting of her and her dog.  I have a picture I could provide that the artist could use.  Does anyone know any good animal artists?   Any idea what something like this would cost?  I was figuring an oil painting 18 x 20.

I don't know about oil painting, but I know LukasGSD on here (gosh, I think that's her ID- but if not, look up Hallix, her friend) does AMAZING sketches/drawings. And I mean AMAZING.

Thank you for the replies.  I was definitely looking for oil.  I also had a woman in Michigan who does lifesize portraits of dogs in colored pencil....she is amazing also but I wanted to try oil.  Howlk9 I will check out your friend.  I also received a few pm recommendations I will check out. The key is finding one that someone recommended (and my preference: done GSDs before) and who willing to make a portrait from a photo...  Not as easy as I thought (without paying an arm and a leg)! HA

I am not sure if she is taking any consignments at this time but Rosellen Westerhoff is fabulous artist who also owns GSDs and Mals and used to compete in SchH.  Here is an acrylic that she did from a photo (the dog in my user icon):

Wow!  Those posted paintings/drawings are amazing!  That acrylic is so lifelike!  I found an artist in Maine and should be getting a pic of the painting soon.  She said she would send me a pic first and if I liked it then we would complete the transaction.  I will post pics if I purchase it!
