Has anyone fed or does feed the 4Health dog food from Tractor Supply Company (TSC)? In particular their grain free line? I have a friend that was thinking of having me pick up some of this food for her dogs, but wanted to get some feed back on the grain free. She does not come on this site, but would like to hear some feed back to see if she would like to try it for her 3 dogs.

I have fed the non-grain free line before. But do not remember how the dogs did on it. I only fed it for a very short time.

I've been feeding the 4Health Duck and Potato line for about two months now. I have four dogs here, one malinois and three malinois mixes, of which three of them are doing very well on the food.  Good weight, nice coats, firm stools. The last one is a lean, lanky pup going through an ugly stage that I can't blame on the food. Overall I'm really pleased with how my dogs do on it.

I too use the same line; grain free and regular, depending on the dog.   I am pleased.

The grain free, beef and potatoe helped one of my dog's continual rounds of soft stool.   Everyone one looks good and healthy.  Even my picky eater will eat the beef and potatoe everytime.

I did change over to NutriSource grain free, as the 4health did not have a high calorie count and the entergetic pup just did not gain weight and I was up to 5 cups a day.

all and all though, I am pleased with the line.

I have not ued 4Health , but my working line GSD pup lives off Origen Large Breed puppy dry kibble. She is only 18 weeks old, weighs about 44 lbs ( shes larged boned ) , full of energy all day long, and has a thick lush gleaming coat. At this young age she is able to jump ( propel all 44 pounds of herself  upwards ) directly onto our bed which is  38 inches off the floor. I feed her about 3/14 cups per day. I must say that I am very pleased  with this product. A $75 bag ( 28 punds ) lasts a little more than one month. Her stool is firm , and can be easily picked up. She poops about 3 times per day. She eats her total quota in two feedings.

I tried mine on it for a year. I have never seen so much poop in my life. Poop, poop everywhere and HUGE piles. Also, I had to feed more of it. I switched to Victor and feed less food and resulting in less poop. Besides those two issues, I had no problems. It was a good kibble, but not great IMO because of the reasons I mentioned.

Thank you Fawn and Ramage. I will pass this info on to the friend of mine.

Mithuna,

Thanks for taking the time to post... but the friend of mine is not interested in Orijen.... She only asked about the 4Health as that is what she is interested in maybe trying for her 3 dogs. They are adults... and not puppies.

I do not want to turn this into a "this food is better than that food" thread.... I was asked to post about 4Health. So I  welcome any more info on the 4Health (preferably the grain free line) only. As that is what the friend of mine would like to hear about.    THANKS

I have been feeding 4health grain free for about 8 mths, to my gsd and my mini aussie. Nice coats, I haven't seen the 'lots of poop' one poster mentioned. However, I have noticed my gsd lost ALOT of weight while on it, she certainly could have standed to lose a few lbs, but she seems to have gotten to ribby on it. My mini aussie however, is a little porker and looks fine.  I asked my vet about it, she feeds it as well, loves how her dogs do on it, and told me, the weight loss may be due to no carbs in the grain free, so I've started to look around to mix something with the 4 health for my gsd. Otherwise, no complaints here

Jakoda, I had the same issue with ribby.   Please post if you find a good additive.

Thanks for all the feed back.  It has been a great help. For those of you that are feeding the grain free formulas.... which ones of the grain free do your dogs seem to do best on? Or do you rotate formulas?
