At that age, I was already feeding the adult formula. There's not much difference between the 2 formulas.

Go for the high protein and high fat puppy food.

Go with the adult and keep the protien around 24%. I find 24/20 is about the best ratio overall.

This site here is a good resource: http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com/

Generally, any food that's sold in the grocery store is of very poor quality, and so are most of the foods that get big airtime on TV.

My 18 week old  DDR working line GSD thrives on Origen Large Breed puppy dry kibble. She eats a total of 31/4 cups per day ( in two feedings ). She weighs 44 pounds ( body weight ) , has a soft, shiny , lush coat ; her  body is solid and her muscles feel firm and  well developed. In motion  the rear of her body  looks firmly coupled to the front of her body ( probably because of  well developing  lower back and hip muscles ). She is fill with energy all day long , always ready to play and her stool is firm ( easy to pick up, not leaving any mess on the ground ); she poops about 3 times per day. At this young age  she is able to to jump from the ground directly onto our bed which is about 40 inches above the ground. Along with  Origen I  provide her daily with digestive enzyme and probiotics from  a company called nusentia.  A 28 pound bag lasts her a little more than one month. I am pleased with this product  and would recommend it ( based on the experience  I have had with it ). Before trying Origen I tried two different  puppy foods ( FROMM and BLUE BUFFALO WILDERNESS ), but she never like either of them.

Hopes this help.
