My one year old, Male , black, GSD is losing hair around one of his eyes!

I thought it was getting better, but it is getting worse.

I have put cocoanut oil on it and a bit of neosporin... to no avail!

I have an appointment with the vet today... now I have to spend hundreds unless someone knows of a treament for him.

Thank you!

Rebecca

Probably a depressed immune system. Very common. So is spending thousands at the vet to fix it. You'll go through the scrapings, find mites, get shampoo, do an allergy test, get steriods and find your dog is allergic to about everything it eats. Or you can try this first. Deworm the dog. Nemex one time and Safeguard for 7 days, 10% suspension, 1cc per 5 lbs. Change his diet, preferably a raw diet. Give some probiotics and fish oil. Tablespoon of Coconut oil and Ester-C capsule a day. Write back in two weeks and let us know how he is.

What you are heading down is a road where either your dog really has a problem (probably not since it's surfacing at puberty) or it just needs some help. The road I went down was a long one and in the end, I didn't know what I had and how to fix it, test after test, etc. If you try the above and it works, you have a normal dog going through puberty and it has what amounts to pimples. No crap you put on top will fix it. It needs to heal from within by nutrition. Give the body what it needs to fix itself and you can be confident from that point forward you have a healthy dog.

Thank you!

But a  breeder just texted me and told me it is most likely a common bacterial infection and to try Terramycin first  before flushing hundreds down the ole toilet on a Vet.

i will try this and let everyone know.

She told me it will cure very quickly!

YAY!!
