GSD means german shepherd dogs , and not ugly with weak nerves Dobers, so get a space for your own race

Sheesh - "weak nerves".....clearwater2? Whatever! Did you see what I saw? Nikkigsd - looks great - amazing little tenacious pup there! Calm, too. Like it! If I slipped rock climbing and he got ahold of my foot, I'd be ok...however, if I needed my pantyhose for church, I think I'd be out of luck! LOL Reminded me of the movie that just came out with Kevin Costner and Ashton Kutcher - "The Guardian"...go see it...that pup'd dislocate his jaw before letting go! he he he Did ya ever get him off? LOL

WOW! What a nice pup. I have never seen a puppy that young hang on and have so much concentration for that long. That will be a serious dog. It didnt pay no attention to anthing else going even the little girl throwing the crate around and all the noise. Pure great genetics.

nikkigsd, Very nice pups. Good grips and holding on tight. Not distracted by anything, very focused. My question is, is it O.K to let pups go to their new homes at that age, like described in the first video? Please don't take it as an attack, I don't mean it to be, just curious.

by nikkigsd on 19 February 2007 - 02:02

Valid Question. My pups are usually off wean by 3.5 weeks old. we start bringing our pups into our home by about 2 weeks or so just when there a little mobile and there eyes are opening. the socialization starts as they are being welped dropping of metal food dish banging, clapping. then we start bringing them out to stores, shopping centers, train stations, by the airport all desensitising (not sure if that word is right)work. obvious you see they have to be pretty resilient with my daughter around. by about 5-5.5 weeks they do full stairs, climbing on milk crates palets and by 5.5 weeks there is only limited mother interaction maybe for supplementation thats about it. But they do interact with the Sire and other adult dogs for imprinting plus as long as the mother is dried up we will let her Frolic. then if the dog is strong and healthy enough and the owner is a true GSD person that i know for sure then they can take the pup @6 and some change weeks. We have been breeding for quite awhile and working with these lines to see that they can definately prosper more on there own sooner then later. they start to adapt to there true surroundings and human packs quicker with less quirkieness. I think the socialization is very good, but I also noticed that slippery floor, does it affect their hips, etc.
