Sometimes I think some of these people advertising working lines and claiming both DDR and Czech lines don't have a clue what that means....

by funky man on 17 February 2007 - 19:02

most of Czech lines come from DDR lines

All GSD came from the same lines originally..duh Point is people are throwing these two words arounds all over the interent and I am wondering if they really know what they are talking aboutor is this just a good selling point.

Ha Ha, I have both DDR lines and Czech lines and I don't know if I have a clue or not. A lot of the modern Czech lines go back to DDR dogs(primarily the dogs that were infused into the three border patrol breeding stations), but there are older Csech lines that don't go through that avenue . This dog is typically sharper, less bone, more hyper, can be extremely hard, conformation not as good, but pure Czech.

Gustav...Do you think most people selling pups and the ad says DDR and Czech really know what they are saying or could they be jumping on the bandwagon to sell pups? I am not being a smart aleck just curious.

Desert Ranger, Put in that perspective I agree with you that most people advertising DONT know the difference. We're on the same page!!

by funky man on 18 February 2007 - 02:02

Desert...so what are DDR and Czech shepherds and what is the difference?

by Radiantz on 18 February 2007 - 03:02

I have heard that if you look at the Czech Shepherds ancestory you could find some Mal in them. Maybe that explains the sharper, less bone, more hyper, extremely hard and not as good conformation. What do you all think?

I would like to know the *difference* since most czech dogs trace back to the DDR lines. Could it be basically the same bloodlines with the difference being the country of origin with perhaps Czech lines having different breeding standards and bred for different *hardness & ablilities*? I am very curious... (what everyone really wants to know but always been too afraid to ask?) hahahahaha
