Nate got a new dog in this week and we're all pretty excited to see what he's all about.  If he lives up to his pedigree, he should be a beast!  https://www.pedigreedatabase.com/german_shepherd_dog/dog.html?id=2255809-cero-jivo

I,m glad Nate has his new prospect, but again with all the big breeders producing pups on a regular basis and podium placers producing litters by the bunch I,d really like to know why there not workling there own dogs from there own lines? I,m not picking on Nate (Handsome devil that he is)  But why don,t we see those in the lime light working there own creations?. What would say more about a breeder or competitor using there own stock?

Nate is working Sportwaffen dogs who are showing great promise, Bob, but they are primarily young dogs.  I don't want to speak for him but I imagine that with Stuka's untimely death from cancer last month, he felt the time had come to introduce some new blood into his kennel's lines (as all breeders should do).  The opportunity to acquire this very nice dog whose bloodlines compliment his own presented itself and he jumped on it!

Beautiful dog.. I saw him for sale on Eurosport K9's website... I wish Nate the best with this handsome boy!

Oh my. This kids, is why I hate dog forums and Internet dog trainers. Here I am at the Nationals, observing dogs, revisiting with my training/breeding/competing friends, teaching new helpers at the helper college, and trying to enjoy my sport and my breed, and I have to waste my time responding to someone as they sit on their computer in their mom's basement at home with their statements about how they are disappointed in me.... as I sit here a respected breeder of true working dogs, a respected training helper, a respected teaching helper, a respected competitor, and a respected training director of a respected club. I'd like to just play nice and be a nice guy, because I am a nice guy, but this was kind of a bitch move in my opinion. So unfortunately, I have to waste my time with response, after I'm personally attacked for whatever reason. I question the reason why it was said, by a man I've never been ANYTHING but kind to, but I applaud that no one read it and thought likewise. Maybe there is a lesson here. Just because you have an opinion, doesn't mean you've earned the right to speak it, and when you do, notice that no one listens to it.

Bob, I have never been anything but a friend to you. Ever. You could call me in the middle of the night for help and I would've come. So it bothers me that you, for whatever reason, turned your Internet cannon toward me. Dog people never cease to amaze me. Kinda sad.

But I will respond to your stab. It's cool.

First I'll apologize to you for letting you down. I have sold dogs from my shitty breeding program to:
Police K9 on city/county/state/and federal agency level, that performed well in the work and were well commendated. I'm sure that you have done that too.

I have sold dogs from my shitty breeding program to the German military. I'm sure that you have done that too.

I have sold dogs from my shitty breeding program that have performed well in Schutzhund trials and gotten their titles. I'm sure you've done that too.

I have dogs from my shitty breeding program that got me compliments like from the Director of Judges from USCA "The male in our club is an extremely strong dog. Very, very nice. Good job." Or from a Nationally respected training/trial helper, "That male is extremely clearheaded, safe with kids, but I gave him a grip in the jacket and my arm bruised like crazy. Nice dog!" Or "After my male made IPO3, I entered another trial and when he hit the helper on the long bite, he went down. We knew something happened. Result? Broken clavicle and dislocated shoulder." I'm sure you've done that too.

I used my male at a WUSV Championship as a helper tryout dog. One year later, I used him and his son from my shitty breeding program, an IPO3 and PSA1 male, as the tryout dogs for a USCA Nationals. I'm sure you've done that too.

I had a very well known USCA competitor and police k9 handler contact me on his current street proven police dog, who is a breeding from two of my stud males to two different females from my kennel, from my breedings and then combined into each other, to tell me "this is one of the most genetically gifted police dogs I've ever had." I'm sure you've done that too.

I was contacted by a police k9 handler who told me his dog from my shitty breeding program hit for $60,000 on drug stops and was awarded his unit of 11 dogs yearly commendation of top police k9 two years in a row by age of 3. I'm sure you've done that too.

I was contacted by a lead person in a SAR/FEMA organization that told me she certified a dog from my shitty breeding program that was "in my 20+ years of SAR dogs, was a pleasure to certify that dog. Really, really nice." I'm sure you've done that too.

I gave a male from my shitty breeding program to an ex Vietnam vet and his wife as a personal protection dog, that told me, "when I was in Vietnam in 69-70, I wish I'd had this dog." I'm sure you've done that too.

I have a sport handler that sends me video of his male doing some of the strongest suit work you'll see, and then playing with children and kissing french fries from a girls mouth. I'm sure you've done that too.

I had three breedings in the last year. One, the stud was a titled Sportwaffen male from my shitty breeding program, and one was a titled police narcotic detection k9 female (V rated, Kkl1) from my shitty breeding program. (Oh, and I raised their dad from a 7 week old puppy to a 5 time Helpers Favorite at National Level competition dog.) I'm sure you've done that too.

I have in my kennel:
One male, and two females, bearing my Sportwaffen kennel name, from my breedings raising for titles. Different dads, different moms. I'm sure you've done that too.

In my training partners kennel, I have one male (who a German SV Judge friend told me was one of the strongest young males at 11-12 weeks he's ever seen, and two females (one titled, V rated, Kkl1, Police K9 certified), and one trialing in a month for her sport career. Oh, different dads and different moms too.)  I'm sure you've done that too.

In my Schutzhund club that I run I have approximately 8-9 dogs from my shitty breeding program titled/working toward titles/breeding, from puppies to IPO3's, from multiple males and multiple females in ages from 5 months to 4 years of age. I'm sure you've done that too.

I was approached at the Nationals by a well known National equipment vendor and Schutzhund competitor, who bragged to me and thanked me "Thank you for breeding me such a stable dog the way they should be. I take him to all the shows. Everyone loves him. He's so stable and awesome." I'm sure you've done that too.

I sold a V rated, titled, Kkl1 dog from my shitty breeding program that then certified as a Police K9 and worked the street until his death. Raised from a puppy, titled, then sold as a K9, (oh, I ran the police k9 school that certified him too). I'm sure you've done that too.

I have personally tested and/or selected every dog in my shitty breeding program, from Germany to Belgium to Czech Republik to Slovakia. I'm sure you've done that too.

I sold a narcotic detection k9, bred/raised/trained/certified from my shitty breeding program to one of the largest and most recognizable Sheriff's Departments in the US. In her first 60 days out of the K9 school she hit for enough drug money to buy her agency's next 10 K9's. They told me she "is the best K9 in our entire unit and blows everyone away". I'm sure you've done that too.

I was contacted by the lead nanophysicist of a state of the art, cutting edge organization producing synthetic training detection aids for everything from bed bugs to explosives to narcotic detection and asked to perform and oversee a study on the effectiveness and reliability of their aids. After completion of my training and study report, involving my police dog and two dogs bred/raised/trained/police k9 certified by my shitty breeding program, those training aids are now the cutting edge scientific standard for detection aids and now utilized by city/county/state/federal/military agencies around the world. Publications of my study involving these aids and dogs from my shitty breeding program have appeared in multiple K9 magazines and reports around the world. I'm sure you've done that too.

At the Mideast Regional Conformation trial we held a dog from my breeding was placed first, ahead of multiple showline dogs from a major US showline kennel, by an SV Judge. I'm sure you've done that too.

I have had ten contacts searching 5-6 years each, all over Europe for the new blood I wanted to dump into my shitty breeding program. I had a close friend of an internationally known breeding/importing program who imported in 2 USCA National Champions and one year had three dogs on the WUSV Championship from two separate countries contact me and say he finally found what I wanted. His comment? "There are a handful of handlers in this world that can handle a dog this powerful. He is perfect for you. This is your dog." So I viewed and then purchased the dog to compliment what I've retained in my shitty breeding program and was honored that my abilities gave me the opportunity to acquire him, and that my shitty breeding program was respected enough to send him to me. I'm sure you've done that too.

My Sportwaffen Facebook page has over 4,100 followers and my website receives on average 200 visits per day. I'm sure you've done that too.

When I posted on social media that I had a new male coming in to my shitty breeding program I got in the first 12 hours of the post I received over 300 likes, 150 public comments, and 60 private messages/email/texts/phone calls inquiring who this male was that was being added to my shitty breeding program that had me excited. I'm sure you've done that too.

When after two days travel to Frankfurt and 17+ hours on a plane and a 3 hr ride home, I travelled 4 hours to the Nationals and worked him on one of the top trial/training helpers in the United States who told me "that's a NICE DOG! Lotta power there. My arm was giving out and feels pumped. Good for you man. That's a NICE DOG!" I'm sure you've had that too.

I'm sorry that I have failed you in my shitty breeding program, by not being kennel blind, and importing into the US and my shitty breeding program one of the strongest males I have ever seen. I'm sorry. I've clearly not held to your standard and I'm ashamed of myself. I will definitely try harder to rise to your level tomorrow. In the meantime, holler upstairs and tell mom to warm you another hot pocket while you educate us through a keyboard. Tomorrow I'll try harder for you, because I do care what you say so very much.

Nate, that was a waste of your time. No one would've thought any differently had  you not bothered to respond at all.

Bob, I disagree with you on that- a lot. In the most obvious sense, how can anyone move forward without new blood?! Breeding is all about COMPLEMENTING what you have in front of you in the best way possible.

by joanro on 08 November 2014 - 14:11

Keep up the good work, Nate. Enjoyed reading of your successes, very inspirational. Keeping the breed a working breed....what more could be asked of a breeder. Congratulations and best to you with your great addition to a great kennel.

FWIW to working line people from an ASL owner, that is one beautiful dog! My favorite color too. Is that called a black sable?

Life is too short to live with an ugly dog Devil Smile. Sorry I'm so shallow, but wow! If he doesn't work out,   let me know? I think I could fit one more dog on the Sleep Number.
