So...I lost my other post. Just wanted to update for those who care. To recap: Eden was hospitalized yesterday for suspected intestinal blockage.
I figured it might be "fun" to post these films and see what everyone thinks/diagnoses and then I'll share the outcome. These were taken upon admittance. Next, I'll post the ones taken an hour and a half after fluids were administered.

These are after lots of IV fluids and the passing of an hour and a half. What do you guys think/see?

I think I see gas bubbles; is her stomach trying to flip or ?? Scarey looking to me as I really don't know what I am looking at. Please share if you can, and I hope she is OK. Nan
Enlarged spleen?? A piece of a dog collar; a part of a dog clip?? Can't tell. Looks like trouble to me.

She's alive, Nan. I think this is a really interesting thing so I'll wait to post the end outcome a little bit. Would love to hear other opinions.

The one x-ray that appears to be a top view shows an obvious enlargement on the ride side. It appears to me that there is some foreign matter going on. Stomach flip as Nan said...I can see that too.
I have zero experience reading films...just adding to the conversation. :)

I don´t know what kind of fluid they used, but normally the innards ( and the intestine ) should be visible much better (?). Did the fluid not go through the esophagus into the stomach?
After all I am clueless and glad, that there are vets who know what these x-rays say about the problem of your dog.
Glad she is alive!

I see very beautiful croup and super chest

Ok, I guess nobody else wants to read them. LOL.
3 vets at first hospital saw these, and the 1 vet I sent them to saw them. All saw obstructive pattern, albeit unclear as far as the nature of the obstruction. I'm extremely careful about what the dogs have access to, but Eden is a trouble-maker. She loves to grab something out of the hamper on her way out the backdoor through the laundry room. I find my son's clothes outside regularly- she's just sneaky enough to turn her head so we don't notice what she's got in her mouth. If any of mine are going to eat something stupid, it's Eden.
Anyway, she had surgery last night........found NOTHING foreign. Areas of extremely inflamed & discolored intestine were found but no clue as to why. Some gas in stomach but nothing alarming- just a "very angry digestive tract." All I can think of is a plant I'd bought to plant outside and never got around to. It has gone MIA. It was a one-quart Dianthus, the most toxic of any of my plants (all my backyard plants are either totally safe to eat, or produce only mild gastro symptoms if large quantities are eaten). Well, I suppose eating the entire plant would be considered a "large quantity" and I am guessing that the potting soil it came in likely had some type fertilizer additive, because I found some tiny tiny green beads in the rock garden where the plant was last seen.
So...best guess is the inflammation was caustic in nature....and she had exploratory abdominal surgery (that I get to pay for, LOL) for no reason that some fluids and stomach meds couldn't have cured. <sigh> Oh well. Who knows? Maybe the "why the hell not" gastropexy will save her life someday. Lemonade, think lemonade....
I posted these xrays because they were foolers.

Argh! I didn't see Ibrahim's or Susie's post. Susie, they didn't use any contrast. I am not sure why. Ibrahim, what's funny, is that these are a better view of her hips than he OFA x-rays were! LOL! THOSE were inexcusably horrendous! I should send this one to the vet who shot her OFAs and say "an x-ray for possible obstruction was positioned 100x better than your xray TRYING to show her hips."

So, that shows I was 100% correct, I saw beautiful croup and chest, nothing more nothing to worry about
