Does anyone know if there is a national database to search for individuals that have been convicted of animal abuse, neglect, or cruelty? Please e-mail me @ flagsd@yahoo.com if you know of any. Thank you very much.

There are several. One is listed below, but there are others.

I would caution that some are not up to date. In at least one case I know about where there was a conviction, that conviction is not recorded. In others, undoubtedly, there are some cases that never went to court for one reason or another. If you have questions about a given individual, it is probably always best to check many local references, including with the state agriculture department (in most states this department oversees kennels), your local animal control and police departments and local breeders. Do be aware that anyone can post items that are false, so I always advise taking things with caution until otherwise proven.

You also should notify any shelter, humane society and animal rescue group within at least 250 miles. They will be appreciative of the info so another pet doesn't get into the abuser' home, and they will post to those they are associated with as well, so less chance that another animal will be in danger.
