ANYTHING WILL HELP!

You don't have to post your respones to the above questions on here--if you put them on your go-fund-me site, that would be fine, too.

Thanks!

No offense, but most folks don't know you from a ham sandwich, so could you please provide some more information about yourself and your puppy's injury?  Speaking for myself, I need to know the answers to some questions in order to be comfortable with making a donation.

From reading the go-fund-me page linked above, you say she fell off your bed and now needs surgery to repair her tibia. Why was she on your bed playing at 2 AM, and not safely confined in her crate [which can be seen in one of the photos on the web page]?  What veterinary facility is going to do the surgery? Can you post a copy of the x-ray that shows the injury Scarlett sustained in this fall?

It's not clear if she's already had the surgery performed or not--what is her present status with regard to that?  If still awaiting the surgery, what is being done to keep her comfortable and control any pain?

The folks on this website are a generous group, but personally I'm rather a cynic and need more detail than what's been posted so far. Thanks.

No updates on the gofundme.com page in 4 months, and in the pictures, I do not see any incision sites on the dog. Could very well be the angle of the picture, but it still seems a little fishy to me.

by hexe on 23 September 2014 - 04:09

?? Not sure where you're seeing that there's been no updates for 4 months...when I view the go-fund-me page, it says it wasn't even created until 9/18/2014, and there's actually been an update between the time I first posted to ask for more info and today...granted, that update says "Scarlett is running around and seems to be recovering very well. She's a puppy, shes not suppose to run around due to the surgery but I cant stop her or confine her to a kennel...", which certainly doesn't bode well for the poor little girl, but it is a recent update, and the page also shows a donation that was made 12 hours earlier today.

I'm still a bit troubled by how the pup came to have this fracture--would really like to see a copy of the original x-ray, not the one that shows staples & what appears to be a splint, to see what type of fracture occured. And would also really like to know if the pup has had the surgery already, or if the owner is waiting on the donations to make that happen--and which veterinary facility did or is going to do the surgery...

When trying to look up the gofundme I found this:

reno.craigslist.org>all community>pets id#4678171823

Show pictures of a german shepherd puppy, break x-rays and stitches-supposedly posted 3 days ago . . . . .

poster referrence the gofundme listing.

Thanks for finding that, 3Shep2... the reason I wanted to see the pre-surgery film is because looking at the post-surgical one, it looked like this was a spiral fracture, which isn't typical with just a fall as that kind of break occurs when there's been torsion [twisting] to the bone. The pre-surgical film confirms that it's a spiral fracture, and that brings me to wonder what the whole story really is...takes a good bit of rotational force to cause that type of fracture. That concerns me for a couple of reasons, not the least of which is the difficulty of getting these to heal well; the owner's notation the he "can't" keep her from running around and can't keep her confined or restrict her activities because "she's just a puppy" also make me concerned, because if he fail to do so it's very likely this pup will end up crippled with a deformed hind limb due to the improper post-surgical care she's getting.

Really would prefer to make a donation toward the bill directly to the vet's office for this one. Hopefully, they'll put that info up on the go-fund-me site or here.

Heard from Scarlett's owner directly, and she has had the surgery to repair the break; this can be confirmed by contacting Baring Blvd. Veterinary Clinic in Reno, NV. Her owners opened a Care Credit account, and as anyone who is familiar with those knows, as long as the bill is paid within 6 months' time, there's no interest charged...but if there's a balance for this procedure after the 6th month, not only does the [rather high] interest kick in, but it kicks in for the full amount originally charged for the treatment.  There's no way to make a payment directly to the vet clinic, since Care Credit has already paid them--the challenge now is for Scarlett's people to get Care Credit paid off before that 6 month deadline kicks in and balloons the balance up with 6 month's worth of interest.

Their communication satisfied my concerns; hopefully this post will likewise alleviate those of any others who were thinking of donating who may have been holding back waiting for more info.

For some reason when I pulled up the page, a Greyhound named Scarlett was the dog in need. I finally was able to pull up the correct page, I do apologize for my error.
