what do the owners of the females do when breeding to a male close by-- bring their female to and from the male everyday for whatever it is (2 weeks)
or would you leave your precious female with a breeder(ANY BREEDER)
you don't know much about.
i.e. how she would be treated while there.
i am just the type of person who my dogs are my kids(i don't have children)they have the best of everything, i have never ever kenneled them. when i go away someone stays at my home!!
any opinions
Harley,
If the male is close by then it is easy.
Do a progesterone test. This will tell you the optimal time for breeding.
You then breed her, skip one day, do it again and maybe skip one more day and do it one more time for good measure.
Two, maybe three trips, not two weeks.
I have also left females with people I know and trust for breeding.
Hope u have a plan and plenty of money , as proper diet, worming, feeding and breeding registrations just went up....breeding is a very expensive ordeal and if done right, mega bucks.....do not leave ur dog with anyone u do not trust or know.....just like it was your flesh and blood....same dangers apply.....I hope u got a brucelosis test on your dog and the other first....that comes first....then do a ZB stated...is this first for both dogs.....do the test first....if u havent done so...I dont care who tells u not needed....they aren.t reputable breeders or vets if they tell u different.....
I had bred my female out to Puck v Grafental and had to leave her there for the weekend. That is the first time I had ever left her at someone else's place. She did really good and I knew by Connie's reputation that she would be very well taken care of. I guess if you don't know the breeder very well, you can always ask around and get references to be on the safe side. If you live close then I would take her there for awhile and bring her back home, and repeat it again. You want to at least get 3 ties if you can. JMO
I do agree with yellowrose of Texas, It is very expensive when it comes to breeding, raising the pups and having the mother at top peak condition, registration papers, worming, shots, micro chip, and etc. You must get the brucelosis test and everything else before you breed her and you must have the owner to the stud do the same. You definetly have to cross your T's and dot you I's, and pray everything goes well.
thanx,

i know it will be big bucks but like i said i don't have kids, and husband builds houses,so i'm not worried about the money.
the plan is to find the right homes! that would be my biggest worry.
i wish there was a way to have a choice of the # of pups you can have per litter.. :)) (it's a joke, but it would be great)i would never breed without having people lined up for the pups. but even with that, people are full of shit!
when the time comes to buy the puppy that they promised and swore up and down they are taking,so do the excuses!
kelly i know connie.. and i wouldn't have a problem with just a handshake on a deal with her!!!
That is really the hardest part, is trusting someone to take care of the pup like you do for your own dogs. Some people can talk a good talk too! You just have to learn how to weed the bad's out and give to the good's. I have pups right now, and I have turned people down for one reason or another. These pups are like family and I'm going to be very careful who they go to.
I didn't know her at the time I took my female there, but I have heard nothing but good. I was a little worried leaving her, but I still slept pretty good at night, and she emailed me until I picked her up.
and that's the whole problem, people are good at lying!!
how do you weed out the bad?
you have to go with your gut.
and people with money don't care if they spent 20,000 for a puppy, if they can't handle it it's nothing for them to leave it at a shelter or drop it off somewhere.. that is why i am saying IF I EVER...
