Have you found anything that works for dogs with fleas that has not exhibited adverse reactions? Here in So. Cal with all the humidity we are having my dogs have come into contact with fleas; they are loaded. Am so unhappy and have to get something that is going to work on them ASAP. Thx in advance for what has worked for your guys. Nan
PS: Got stuff for the yard/house already.
PSPS: So far Bio Spot has not worked; although it was old. ??

Bronco spray (for horses and dogs) works great for me, love this stuff, keeps flies off, never seen ticks on them and no fleas.

Where are you located in So Cal?
We're in Valley Center (near Escondido) and this is the worst year ever here for fleas!!!
We have sprayed heavily with Permethrin SFR 36.8% and Nylar IGR...With this try using a topical on the dogs that has fipronil with an IGR..like Frontline.
You need to spray the yard and where the dogs stay every 2 weeks.
Hope this helps...Please let me know...OK?

CAPSTAR, Nan. It's "safe" as far as that stuff goes. Kills QUICKLY and then you can bathe to get rid of eggs, treat your environment, and hopefully prevent having to put chemicals on the dogs. Research it. I have used it for a horribly infested rescue and I never had to do another thing except bathe him. No one else got fleas. The stuff starts working in 30 mins. You can buy it at most pet stores now.

Thanks Jen: Just looked it up on line store; my local vet uses it on any dogs that come in for the day; swares by it. WOW haven't had to treat for fleas for 30 years really a nasty year. Will shop as really do not want to buy the 60 caps if I don't have to. KNow it works quickly and effeciently. May be my answer for now. Thx Nan

Oh, no, you don't have to buy that many. I think they come in packs of 6? But farm stores and Petco have it...

FYI, as a 'head's up' there are several flea and tick control products which were previously approved by the EPA for use on pets which have now had that approval withdrawn, though the agency cut a deal with the manufacturers of the products [collars, spot-ons, sprays, etc.] containing the pesticide that allows the companies to continue to manufacture and distribute the products for up to two more years. The retailers who the companies will distribute those products will be under NO restrictions or obligations with regard to the continued sale of that old stock. The reason for the reversal of the approval on these pesticides is due to concerns regarding the exposure of children to the products when they come in contact with family pets.
For the full story on this, listen to or read the transcript from the Public Radio Intl show, Living on Earth, from the week of August 15, 2014.
Here's the EPA Press Release #1 and EPA Press Release #2.
For you folks outside of the US, keep your eyes peeled for these products, too. The opportunity to unload them somewhere else so the agreement isn't violated but there's still profit to be made will most likely bring them to your shores unless your country prohibits the entry of the products.
