Possible odd question... - Page 1

Just out of curiosity, how common is puppy swapping between breeders? Instead of selling, breeder A trades a puppy from their program with a puppy out of breeder B's program? Common, or not so much?

I , until recently  , had no clue how many people have done this and I learned, recently, how many people , get HURT in the end...about a year or two down the road...I cannot tell the stories but others can..I just learned them recently...

I have never done it...BUT  even contracts that say, selling thie Female  , Julie, for a return on first litter bred to my approved male, I retain the right to pick the first pic female or male , to my descretion and the first litter if not my approval pic will fall into the second litter , of my approval and descretion...

and on and on ....being legal....HAS turned into one of the breeders , not abiding or getting mad or getting cross wise, or not agreeing or simply , banning conversation, blocking emails and phone calls and going right on with breedings , because many reasons have arisen....

I know of 4 cases right now on very rocky ground..

I would suggest pming to you by these people so not to cause a problem any further....Some people never learn...and keep on and even make up new names to get out of these swapping agreements...BAD deals happen everywhere it seems, but swapping seems to be the worst of the bunch..

Melba I have swapped several times never a problem.  

If someone has a litter that I want a pup from and vice versa no problem it is a way to get a new bloodline or a male or female pup.  We swap I now have a new  pup it's papers and whatever quarantees that we agreed upon.

I've swapped several times with no issues. I wouldn't do it with just anyone. I do it witih breeders that I am extremely close to and trust. 

I haven't done a swap, exactly, but have given pups to friends. They have also givn me pups down the road, when needed, but I never give pups with the intentions of making anyone return the favor. Simply put, I just "share the wealth" among friends. 

Oh, I have absolutely given pups to friends and will be donating one to a PD, including training. There's no reason in particulac that I ask... was kind of bored and my adhd kicked in with the random thoughts. Thank you all for the replies!

Melba, that is a very good question, and didn't know that it even happened. I guess you do learn something new everyday.
